Role
Who you are
- You should be proactive, innovative, and be able to identify areas for process improvement and offer solutions to enhance procedural efficiencies
- 3+ years of experience in business analysis, ideally in e-commerce, retail, or technology
- A BA degree (or equivalent experience) is preferred
- Technical & Industry Expertise:
- Strong understanding of Ecommerce (Shopify preferred) and business operations, such as inventory management, purchasing, and finance
- Experience with NetSuite ERP and Salesforce CRM software and integrations preferred
- Background in quantitative analysis or retail operations is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for various stakeholders
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with a focus on execution and problem-solving
- Strong project management skills, with experience leading large-scale initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A collaborative team player with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Enthusiasm for social and environmental impact, and alignment with Brilliant Earth’s mission

What the job involves
- Brilliant Earth is hiring a hands-on Ecommerce Business Analyst who will play a key role in Brilliant Earth’s mission by automating and building processes for scalability and growth
- This role will also be accountable for developing a wide range of quantitative analyses and actively using these analyses to drive business decisions
- As the Business Analyst, you will be responsible for a wide range of projects, including creating workflows and customizing reports, searches, and forms
- You will also write requirements and communicate directly with our internal teams, as well as contracted developers, to deliver product enhancements, fix issues, and optimize E-Commerce business process through the creation of integrations, flows, scripts, and customized components
- You will drive and QA automation projects to streamline our operational processes and be responsible for the continuous improvement within our various departments
- Work with cross-functional teams to gather and document business requirements
- Design tailored solutions that address complex business needs, utilizing tools like Shopify apps, Salesforce, automation, and AI to enhance operational efficiency
- Analyze and optimize business workflows to identify opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand pain points and recommend best practices for process enhancements
- Own and maintain integrations such as email automation, appointment booking, live chat, social shopping, web analytics, SMS platforms, and other MarTech solutions
- Provide ongoing support to ensure seamless user experiences and effective use of Salesforce and Shopify solutions
- Develop new and update existing Process Flows and accompanying documentation for business processes, requirements, and technical workflows
- Provide training and support to end-users to ensure proper system utilization
- Create and execute test plans to ensure the functionality, performance, and quality of digital operations solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise to minimize disruption
- Lead project scoping, scheduling, and execution, including UAT and production release
- Facilitate internal and cross-functional project meetings, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives
Our take
Brilliant Earth has been working since 2005 to provide luxury, ethically sourced jewellery direct to consumers. The company specializes in diamonds from Canada, Botswana and Russia, and successfully went public in 2021.
Sourcing conflict-free gemstones is an increasing priority in jewelry purchasing, especially for Brilliant Earth’s predominantly Millennial and Gen Z customer base. This may prove interesting terrain to navigate: whilst these generations are more inclined towards eCommerce, high-end jewelry shoppers have proven resistant to shopping online. So Brilliant Earth may need to maintain its brick-and-mortar showrooms.
Scaling up their online presence, however, may help them net a good share of what continues to be a highly fragmented market. Much may depend going forward on how far luxury jewelry customers are willing to make the digital switch in their purchasing habits. With companies like Signet Jewelers reporting substantial boosts in eCommerce sales, there may yet be an appetite for it, and Brilliant Earth's IPO in 2021 has helped it gain wider recognition.
