Who you are
- Exceptional writing and editing skills; ability to explain complex higher ed ops topics in an approachable manner
- Strong research skills (literature scans, source evaluation, synthesis)
- Comfortable prompting and editing AI outputs
- Familiarity with basic SEO and content formatting for web
- Bias toward ownership: able to scope, draft, and ship content with minimal oversight while communicating progress
- Nice-to-have: exposure to academic operations or higher ed administration; experience in student journalism, communications, or writing-intensive roles
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a recent college graduate to join us for a 3-month internship (with the possibility to extend) focused on top-of-funnel content for Coursedog’s media entity, AcOps.com
- You’ll research new topics in academic operations, synthesize and repurpose existing Coursedog content, and publish clear, engaging articles that introduce higher ed leaders to best practices in academic operations (e.g. , scheduling, curriculum, catalog)
- You should be a confident, curious writer who’s comfortable working independently, running quick literature scans, synthesizing existing content, and using AI responsibly to accelerate outlines and drafts
- An ideal candidate will take a journalistic approach to writing articles, focused on informing higher eduction leaders and optimizing for clarity, credibility, and discoverability
- This role will report to the Senior Content Marketing Manager
- Synthesize existing Coursedog content into insightful top-of-funnel articles tailored to higher ed audiences
- Research and pitch article ideas that highlight new research, frameworks, and best practices in academic operations
- Draft, revise, and publish web articles that are accurate, well-structured, and aligned with the AcOp’s voice
- Use AI tools to ideate outlines, compare variations, and accelerate editing while ensuring human review, fact-checking, and citations for any AI-assisted content
- Conduct light SME outreach (e.g., quick interviews or async Q&A) to validate insights and gather quotes
- Apply basic SEO best practices (search intent, headings, internal linking) appropriate for B2B SaaS audiences in higher education
- Collaborate with marketing to repurpose articles into social posts
- Maintain a consistent publishing cadence and an organized source library
Our take
In the US, many higher education students are not able to fulfil the classes they need to graduate in four years. This results in higher costs, which exacerbates issues surrounding equitable access. Coursedog has set out to solve this with an integrated academic operations platform that helps institutions maximize their efficiency.
Essentially, the company is combatting a scheduling problem. Its curriculum-mapping software helps institutions to make the right classes available for students to complete their courses. In turn, these students are empowered to graduate on schedule - reducing both frustration and cost.
Coursedog has partnered with over 400 higher education institutions, serving more than 3.3 million students in the process. Although there is some competition in the space, the company has a strong footing and established reputation that should support it to find continued success.
