Who you are
- Prior experience of working on multiple projects, managing competing tasks and prioritizing
- Prior experience engaging with multiple stakeholders at all levels internally and externally
- Demonstrable experience of supporting, maintaining and enhancing operational and process frameworks e.g. risk management and governance
- Ability to identify and connect the dots, spot risks or opportunities
- Be able to work in a pressurised environment
- Prior experience of cross departmental or cross divisional work in a matrix environment
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to understand, analyse and summarise key information
- IT, including Microsoft office package

- We are looking for a Strategy Implementation and Planning Coordinator to join our busy and varied team
- Our department covers a large variety of work from supporting the implementation of our corporate strategy, including reporting on progress against our strategic outcomes and facilitating insights, to business planning and prioritisation
- You will gain a privileged and unique perspective, working within this central department working to support a complex set of stakeholders
- As this role evolves you will have the opportunity to gain more exposure with working across the strategy department and the work we do
- Cross departmental support and planning – maintaining the department weekly planner, supporting our key messages in developing and coordinating the fortnightly note to the COO and departmental MI
- Strategy implementation support – support coordination of the strategy department’s contribution to delivering the FCA’s strategy
- Strategy department wide projects - you will be allocated some specific strategy department wide project work (e.g. building project plans, and day to day delivery of activities and initiatives), and in some case partnering with other Divisions such as Economics
- Risk management - ensuring best practice and governance is followed to support risk management of our own strategy risks
- Your work will require you to work with a range of stakeholders, be able to join dots across different projects and pieces of work, spot risks or opportunities and be able to work at pace in a pressurised environment

Our take
Developed on the back of the Financial Services Act of 2012, the Financial Conduct Authority is a regulatory body that acts as a regulator for financial firms, ensuring the integrity of the financial markets in the UK. Broadly focused on financial companies that provide consumer services, it’s governed by the Bank of England and therefore acts independently of the government.
The FCA is responsible for regulatory innovations, such as stronger customer authentication requirements, including biometric and code requirements for payments, that have clamped down on fraud and improved security for national consumers. The FCA also introduced the Anti-Money Laundering Supervision in 2017.
The organisation’s independence from government ensures its impartiality as a regulator. In the late 2010s, it set up the cryptoasset registration, a department responsible for ensuring the legality of crypto payments. This has become an important aspect of national counter terrorism measures, and exemplifies the complex and vital work that the organisation carries out.
