Who you are
- The successful candidate must be tech-savvy, and proficient in preparing external financial statements and managing financial data, with a solid foundation in IFRS
- CPA - CA Designation
- Extensive experience with IFRS and external financial reporting
- 6 - 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to/experience in the software industry in an acquisitive, multi-currency consolidated environment
- Experience in a hands-on, fast-paced public company financial reporting role
- Experience with accounting and ERP reporting in a complex, acquisition-driven consolidated environment
- Superior financial reporting, written and oral communication skills
- Strong resource management and organizational skills
- Hands-on proactive leadership style
- Ability to develop dashboards and visual analytics for senior leadership
- Superior analytical and Excel abilities to analyze data and provide insights
- Ability to leverage strong leadership skills to motivate and focus the corporate team on compliance and reporting duties
- Strong, independent personality able to communicate effectively with subordinates, peers as well as the senior leadership team

What the job involves
- We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of External Reporting and Compliance to join our corporate management team at Head Office
- Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this key leadership role will be responsible for external reporting, including all filings associated with the Company's public listing, treasury, and other related corporate matters
- Oversee the Company's public financial reporting function and ensure regulatory compliance for the Company’s TSX listing, including preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, annual report, and statutory compliance filings (AIF, Information Circular, NCIB, 52-109 certs, etc.)
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting and analysis for improved usefulness and timeliness, including Acquisition accounting, global consolidation, and reconciliation of intercompany accounts and balances
- Develop and implement new accounting policies, including technical accounting positions on new IFRS standards, and serve as a technical resource for complex accounting matters
- Manage the consolidation of financial results in Canadian dollars for internal and external reporting purposes
- Oversee the annual consolidated audit, coordinate local statutory audits, and manage the preparation of financial statements
- Oversee regulatory compliance for statutory audits, dividend filings, transfer pricing, and tax
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the global consolidation, acquisition accounting, and reconciliation of intercompany accounts and balances
- Oversee and lead quarterly/month-end close to ensure ICFR controls are effective and that external financial statements are free of material misstatements
- Develop and implement strategies for cash management, and working capital, and optimize the Company's financial position and return on invested cash
- Monitor and manage banking relationships, negotiate terms, and evaluate banking services to ensure cost-effectiveness as well as integration with internal financial systems
- Oversee global dividend strategy, cash repatriation, transfer pricing, and other restructuring initiatives aimed at optimizing corporate structure for tax purposes
- Evaluate and manage the Company's insurance program to align with risk management objectives. Collaborate with insurance brokers to negotiate terms, coverage, and premiums
- Provide strategic guidance on risk mitigation and insurance-related decisions
- Lead the global insurance renewal process
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and assist in the implementation of internal controls
- Work closely with internal and external auditors to facilitate the timely completion of statutory audits and address any audit findings
- Provide leadership in entity closures and restructuring initiatives to minimize fees, optimize tax strategies, and ensure compliance
- Manage and mentor the corporate reporting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to team members
- In addition to overseeing the implementation of new accounting standards, the candidate will also manage and have responsibility for the Company's local statutory audits, including completion of local statutory financial statements and compliance with local statutory filing and tax requirements
