Who you are

Expert knowledge of at least one: AWS, Azure, GCP
Strong understanding of Go and Kubernetes in production
Experience with Terraform and managing infrastructure as code
Experience building SaaS products
Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
Comfortable working with 100% distributed engineering team
Experience managing infrastructure predictably through GitOps and IaC. Note that this is not a pure "devops" role; you will need more than scripting experience in order to qualify

What the job involves

We are looking for a Cloud Software Engineer who is up for the challenge to not only build the systems but to lift Redpanda into the public cloud space, but also shape the technical culture that creates these systems
Work with all the engineering teams on building new services to be deployed across all of our supported clouds
Automate the infrastructure lifecycle on Kubernetes and monitor our services with the goal of offering a reliable, scalable, and high-performance SaaS
Make resilience and observability integral to the system, enabling us to run a managed, cloud-based streaming-as-a-service with >99.9% uptime
Build & design Redpanda’s cloud infrastructure with reliability and performance in mind
Build tools & services to allow automated infrastructure provisioning and self-healing, including deployments and upgrades
Participate in on-call rotations, working to keep customer workloads running and incident-free
Build control planes based on Kubernetes for our multi-cloud, managed streaming-as-a-service offering

Our take

When dealing with real-time data streaming workloads, the simpler the infrastructure the better. Redpanda was developed as an alternative to the complex industry standard, Apache Kafka (which needed to be used in tandem with ZooKeeper). Redpanda’s Kafka-compatible platform increases businesses’ operational efficiency by allowing them to switch to a single platform.

With its platform running on hundreds of thousands of machines, Redpanda supports users to run the software that they’ve already invested in while addressing and eliminating past pain points. Building on its success with data streaming, the company is now pioneering the "Agentic Data Plane", a new AI infrastructure feature that enables enterprises to connect AI agents with their data and systems.

With this new direction, Redpanda ensures it remains a key player in the industry - as it supports the new endeavours of its established customer base.
