Role
Who you are
- You have 5+ years of product management experience, ideally at an eCommerce company. Bonus points for experience with physical x digital products and extensive startup experience!
- You are able to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, naturally curious and proactive self-starter, constantly on the lookout for new opportunities and solutions
- You’re an owner, have excellent problem-solving skills and can prioritize tasks effectively, with a strong attention to detail
- You have a demonstrated track record of distilling insights from data, especially connecting physical world behaviors and events to customer retention to define features that improve the customer experience
- You are a skilled and creative user of tools and resources that help define customer needs and the features we should build to improve retention, personalization, and the overall digital + physical experience
- You're a skilled communicator and have the ability to absorb and distill complexity into simple terms to drive decision-making
- You have a customer-centric mentality and experience collaborating with design, engineering, brand, and operations
- You strongly believe PMs work for the team, not the other way around

What the job involves
- The Farmer’s Dog is looking for a customer-obsessed Senior Product Manager to lead our Trial and Onboarding “pawd”, who can synthesize a wide variety of data (quant and qual) to build seamless cross-platform experiences that cultivate emotional loyalty and certainty
- You’ll distill these insights into an actionable product roadmap, then scope, build, and ship high-impact features that meaningfully improve retention by improving the lives of our customers and their four-legged companions
- You will be working alongside a small group of stellar engineers and designers to bring experiences to life in quick iteration
- A day won’t pass without you talking to your customers and team, as that’s the true test of whether we are inventing on our customers’ behalf and delivering useful and joyful experiences
- Identify and balance high-potential bets with high-certainty iterative improvements to move the needle on our trial and early subscriber experience
- Partner hand-in-hand with product design, engineering, data analytics, leadership and other key stakeholders to ensure space to get them done
- Lead the ideation, development, testing and launch of joyful experiences that improve the retention of new customers, including experimenting with segmentation, personalization and recommendations
- Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to deeply understand the customer journey across all stages, mindsets and personas. Use this data to develop compelling hypotheses for experimentation
- Take the lead with the Analyst on your “pawd” on everything data, from impact / prioritization assessments to comprehensive analysis plans
- Run customer interviews, concept testing and usability testing with our product design group to ensure that you can represent our customers inside and out
- Partner with folks across the organization to ensure a cohesive experience across all of our digital AND physical products for new customers
- Be your pawd’s strongest advocate! You will be in the nitty-gritty of developing new products with your pawd, acting as their greatest champion across TFD
Our take
Pet food production in the US is held to alarmingly low safety and quality standards despite being a $99 billion industry, which is hidden behind loose labeling and marketing regulations. When one of the founders of The Farmer's Dog realised that dog food was making his dog sick, they decided that dogs shouldn't be fed anything that wouldn't pass legal requirements for humans.
The Farmer’s Dog produces customised dog food packages that are sent as a regular subscription service. Recipes behind the dog food are personalised and are comprised of natural and high-quality ingredients, aiming to meet the dietary requirements of each individual dog. As the dog food is human-grade, the company even taste-tests its recipes on humans.
The startup sends millions of meals every month and boasts a continual subscription rate of almost 50%. It has raised $50 million in funding to date and is developing new pet food products and scaling to offer its subscription service outside of the US.
