Role
Who you are
- We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our data team
- The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with data engineering tools and technologies, including a background in Data Orchestration and Data Pipelines
- 4-5+ years of software development experience; Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Proven experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating and automating data workflows
- Strong programming skills in Python or general purpose programming languages
- Experience with distributed data processing tools (e.g., Spark, Databricks, DBT)
- Knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing
- Experience architecting and developing solutions to complex problems
- Experience with public cloud services
- Experience with database internals, database language theories, database design, SQL, GraphQL and NoSQL technologies
- AWS Certification is a plus
- DevOps Experience highly desirable

What the job involves
- Reports To: Manager, Engineering
- This is a hands-on role where you will need to demonstrate the skills, experience, and confidence to work with other engineers and product management team members to deliver solutions that will delight our customers
- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using a combination of batch and streaming technologies
- Leverage Apache Airflow to orchestrate and automate complex data workflows and ensure timely delivery of data
- Optimize and tune data pipelines to improve performance and reliability
- Maintain documentation of data lineage, data models, and transformation processes
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders, project managers, quality assurance teams and other developers regarding progress on technology roadmap
- Own delivery of software features from Product to Production, develop project roadmap, engage with Product to define technical requirements and design, engage with IT/Ops to ensure software makes it out to production in a timely manner
- Produce quality code. Write code and test, build prototypes, resolve issues and profile and analyze bottlenecks
- Recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchased alternatives
- Creates new ideas, solutions, or approaches to ongoing challenges
- Uses unconventional areas as sources of inspiration and insight into new options and solutions
- Solves complex problems through developing new explanations or applications
- Contributes ideas for improvements in work methods, systems, processes, and procedures
- Encourages responsible risk taking to achieve high quality results; fosters two-way communication
- Presents changes and uncertainties to others with a positive attitude, emphasizing the opportunities and the actions to be taken
