What the job involves

We’re looking for a Head of Communications who lives and breathes storytelling, influence, and clarity
This role is the heartbeat of how we show up to the world; shaping our voice, sharpening our message, and ensuring that everything we communicate (externally or internally) is consistent, compelling, and unmistakably us
You’ll be the guardian of our narrative, the owner of “the pen,” and the person who helps everyone from patients, partners, investors and colleagues - understand exactly who we are, what we stand for, and how we’re changing healthcare for the better
It’s a chance to lead comms for a fast‑moving, listed digital health company and have a genuine, visible impact
Build and deliver engaging external comms strategies that elevate our brand, strengthen our reputation, and support business goals
Develop bold, clear, and consistent messaging across press releases, social, digital channels, corporate statements, and campaigns
Act as company spokesperson and manage all media enquiries with speed, accuracy, and confidence
Oversee global PR and comms agencies, ensuring high‑quality output and ROI
Foster strong relationships with journalists, industry commentators, influencers, and partners
Lead on internal communications strategy with the support of one direct resource
Ensure colleagues feel informed, inspired, and connected to our mission through transparent, consistent communication
Drive creative comms across newsletters, town halls, leadership messaging, campaigns, and cultural initiatives
Partner closely with the Exec Team to ensure internal messaging aligns with external narrative — no surprises, no contradictions
Own the communications and messaging interface with the investment community
Support financial reporting cycles, investor announcements, trading updates and presentations
Ensure clarity, compliance, and consistency of all market‑facing information
Build long‑term relationships with analysts, investors, and financial press
Own and guard the company narrative — ensuring every external and internal communication reinforces our positioning
Serve as the final quality gate for all major outgoing communications (press, investor, corporate, internal)
Develop messaging frameworks and toolkits the whole organisation can use
Validate that all communications are consistent, accessible, aligned with strategy, and brand‑appropriate
Advise the Executive Leadership Team on strategic comms and reputational positioning
Build and lead a high‑performance communications function with multi‑disciplinary capability
Develop and maintain comms policies, processes, and governance
Lead crisis and issues communications planning, ensuring preparedness and rapid, effective response
Track and measure the impact of communications and IR activities, continually improving impact and performance

There are mixed opinions about virtual GP services and various ideas around what can and can’t be treated virtually. In recent years, the growth of online doctoring services has exceeded what we probably thought possible. Many are not signed up to an in-person GP anymore and rely on apps like Babylon Health, or Doctor Care Anywhere, an online healthcare platform and application.

Founded in 2013, the company not only offers services to individuals, but companies are also able to sign up employees, which further expands the company’s reach and exposure. And the company launched a mental health programme proposition in 2021, highlighting the ongoing work the practice does alongside its day-to-day appointments and referrals.

Recently, the company partnered with Huma, marking a big leap forward in making healthcare more accessible. By combining their platforms, they'll offer patients the option to book private GP consultations anytime, filling gaps left by the NHS. Its an exciting move for Doctor Care Anywhere and one that's set to propel it to the forefront of digital healthcare.
