Who you are
- Technical Project Leadership: 10+ years of experience managing complex, high-stakes infrastructure projects (data centers, energy, or industrial manufacturing)
- Schedule Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in scheduling software; you live and breathe the critical path and dependencies
- Technical Baseline: Enough depth to manage engineering requirements for power-up sequences, fiber paths, and the unique site-prep needs for liquid-cooled clusters
- Vendor & Contract Management: Experience managing EPC firms and third-party service providers in a mission-critical environment
- Safety & Readiness: A relentless commitment to site safety and "Mountaineer" level focus on operational readiness
- Resilience: Proven ability to drive projects to completion despite global supply chain headwinds or technical setbacks
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to own the end-to-end lifecycle of Spark deployments—from the moment a unit leaves the factory to the moment it is "Available to Customer" (ATC) in the field
- End-to-End Ownership: Manage the project schedule, budget, and resource allocation for specific Spark deployments
- Site Readiness: Coordinate site preparation, permitting, and utility interconnection timelines to ensure sites are ready the moment Sparks arrive
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify bottlenecks in procurement, construction, networking, and power readiness. Always have a "Plan B" to maintain velocity
- Internal Connectivity: Serve as the primary "connective tissue" between Manufacturing, Construction, and the Spark Business Unit on a project basis
- External Partner Coordination: Manage relationships with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firms and specialized third-party contractors for site execution
- The Playbook: Create, manage and refine the "Spark Deployment Playbook," standardizing how we handle fast, predictable deployment cadences from end-to-end
- Reporting: Provide high-fidelity project status updates for the executives, focusing on critical path items, coordinating with the Business Operations Manager to help develop, manage and distribute a Spark “Dashboard”
- Ensure a “no surprise” mentality on project timelines, schedules, budgets and deployments with alternatives identified such that projects remain on schedule and within budget
Our take
Crusoe is tackling one of the biggest challenges facing the digital age: the enormous energy demand of data centres and AI infrastructure. As AI models grow more powerful, they require immense computing power (and therefor electricity) to train and operate. This surge in energy use has put some pressure on power grids, driven up costs, and raised environmental concerns. Crusoe is on a mission to make this process more sustainable by finding smarter, cleaner, and more efficient ways to power the data centres that drive modern computing.
The company started out by putting wasted energy to work. Originally known as Crusoe Energy, it captured natural gas that would otherwise be burned off ("flared") at remote oil sites and used it to power modular data centres. Today, Crusoe has evolved into a major player in AI infrastructure, designing and operating large-scale data centres near renewable or stranded energy sources. It's now one of a handful of "neocloud" companies (next-generation cloud providers focused on flexible, efficient computing for AI workloads). And its facilities are helping tech giants like OpenAI handle the massive computing requirements of training advanced AI models.
Recently, Crusoe has attracted some huge investor attention, tripling its valuation to over $10B and raising $1.4B in its latest funding round. It's building OpenAI's first major US data centre campus and even experimenting with bold new frontiers. In partnership with Starcloud, Crusoe plans to deploy the world's first space-based cloud computing infrastructure, powered by solar energy and orbiting the Earth by 2027. If successful, this could redefine how and where computing happens, opening up a cleaner, virtually limitless source of energy for AI's next generation.
