After the rush of falling in love fades and partners enter the more committed stage, even the most loving couples will inevitably hit challenges. So we created a fun, safe space for couples who are already in love to explore their relationship, get to know one another in new ways, and ultimately grow together.
Role
Who you are
- Extensive experience in product design for mobile applications with a focus on subscription-based apps
- Professional background in supporting the growth and scaling phase of at least one Tech company, ideally within industries such as femtech, self-improvement, education, health & fitness, and related fields
- Strong portfolio showcasing case studies that demonstrate great product thinking, user experience, interaction, and visual design skills, a clear process and results
- Proven ability to work on very broadly defined, loose concepts, as well as narrowly defined, tactical features
- Deep knowledge of best practices for information architecture, navigation, UX, and UI design
- Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional product teams, with the ability to quickly adapt and respond to change
- Proactive self-starter who brings original ideas and fresh approaches to design challenges
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (we use Figma predominantly) with a healthy interest in learning new tools
- Good understanding of Design Systems and A11Y, to ensure consistency, scalability, and inclusivity
- Ability to use data and user research to understand user needs, and gather insights to justify and support design decisions
What the job involves
- Paired is looking for a Senior Product Designer to elevate our user experience and drive long-term engagement for couples
- In this fully remote senior role, you will lead the design process within our Expansion squad, covering everything from concept to execution
- You'll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and fellow designers to develop innovative features that enhance the Paired experience and broaden our app’s offerings
- Our key focus will be working on new features to provide actionable relationship insights to users based on their activity in the app
- Reporting to the Head of Design and working with a diverse team of seven designers, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how couples engage with the app and each other, fostering deeper connections and lasting engagement
- Lead the end-to-end design process for innovative features from concept to launch
- Partner with Product Managers and Researchers to uncover the biggest problems and opportunities for our users via research
- Support Product Managers and Design Leads in shaping initiatives and define the roadmap
- Foster a strong, user-centered point of view on your product area and collaboratively advocate for user needs and your vision
- Develop rapid prototypes and conduct iterative design cycles to refine new concepts
- Design and execute new concepts from early-stage ideation to high-fidelity and visually appealing mock-ups
- Communicate design rationale and efficiently steer explorations of multiple solutions to problems
- Support Paired's Design System by promoting and reviewing major changes, and introducing new solutions
- Drive outcomes for our users and Paired through design, focusing on impact rather than just visual output
- Mentor other designers by giving constructive feedback to influence and strengthen your peers’ decision-making skills and quality of work

Our take
With 1 in 4 couple relationships being ‘distressed’ and the vast majority of these distressed couples not getting support (either because it’s taboo, unaffordable, or inconvenient) Paired brings relationship support to all couples via a fun, expert, and affordable mobile app. Paired is different to traditional couples therapy as it targets the full spectrum of couples who want help building intimacy, resolving conflict and improving communication.
Paired works with expert relationship academics and therapists. The company combines tips from these experts with fun daily questions, games and quizzes that partners answer together. It prompts partners to take the small, positive steps needed by couples to improve their relationship each day.
The founding team has a deep expertise in building top-grossing mobile apps such as Memrise and Peak, which should give them an edge in creating a widely adopted user-friendly app. An app targeted towards existing relationships stands out as an innovative concept compared to the numerous dating apps already on the market.
Paired is growing rapidly, recently passing more than 250,000 daily active users. Alongside this, it tripled its team size in 2022 and has won plaudits for its app, including the 2020 Google Play Award in the Personal Growth category and the Apple Store's App of the Day in January 2023.
