Who you are
- If you're passionate about building novel, scalable, high-impact and easy to use applications, we’d love to hear from you!
- Have 12 years of software engineering experience
- Have expertise with React, including hooks, context, and modern patterns
- Have hands-on experience with state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, Reframe) and data-fetching strategies (GraphQL or REST)
- Have solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3 (Flexbox/Grid) and CSS-in-JS or utility-first frameworks (e.g., Tailwind)
- Have proficiency in implementing accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design
- Have strong UI/UX skills with an eye for pixel-perfect implementation
- Have familiarity with design tools (Figma, Sketch) and prototyping workflows, bring knowledge of real-time frameworks (WebSocket, GraphQL Subscriptions) and data visualization libraries (D3.js, Recharts)
- Have experience working directly with customers to gather feedback and improve applications
- Are interested in learning Clojurescript, Reagent and Reframe
Desirable
- Bring experience with ClojureScript, Reagent, and Reframe, have a background in restaurant technology, hospitality, or operations-focused SaaS products, demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a growth mindset, and communicate effectively while collaborating across distributed teams
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Restaurant Applications team
- You will own the design and implementation of rich, interactive user interfaces used by both consumers and brand operations / marketing teams
- You’ll architect scalable front-end systems—from component libraries and data-driven dashboards to A/B testing frameworks—while partnering closely with UX designers, product managers, and back-end engineers to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions
- Drive end to end solutions to ambiguous and open-ended technical challenges
- Design and architect responsive, high performance web applications
- Influence key stakeholders within the organization to generate new products and adopt new processes and practices
- Continuously improve our brand onboarding and operational excellence capabilities
- Collaborate with product and design teams to build world-class applications
- Work on systems that handle millions of voice AI conversations per year
- Identify and eliminate sources of toil and inefficiency in systems and processes
- Proactively refine UX based on user feedback and usage analytics, driving measurable improvements in adoption, task completion time, and error rates

The applications for top tier tech of this sort are vast, from automotive innovation through to restaurant management, and SoundHound is firmly leading the pack.
SoundHound has developed products with unrivalled accuracy across nearly two dozen languages, giving them a real edge over Google and Amazon’s competing products. To consolidate this lead, the company also made a number of strategic, big-name partnerships to broaden their products’ uptake, with the likes of Tencent, Hyundai, Nvidia, and Samsung counted among them.
By keeping its products customizable and broadly applicable, SoundHound was successful in its IPO bid, which will cement its position globally as the sector continues to develop. Although taking a hit from the poor economic climate, alongside many of its fellows, the company has secured post-IPO funds. It paid off its post-IPO debt in 2024, making it lighter on its feet as it captures new markets and customers in the voice-enabled AI sector.
