Who you are
- 7+ years experience in finance, operations, or biz ops (startup or venture-backed experience preferred)
- Strong modeling skills and familiarity with startup accounting
- Operational generalist - you’re comfortable owning a broad scope and adapting quickly
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Experience working directly with founders or executive teams
Desirable
- Experience scaling an early-stage company from Seed/Series A to Series B/C/D
- Familiar with tools like Ramp, Carta, Quickbooks, Gusto, Pulley, or Stripe
- Background in venture capital, FP&A, or consulting
- Played Portal 1 and 2 - or willing to as part of onboarding
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on Head of Finance & Operations to help Tavus scale from scrappy startup to category-defining company.
- As our first leadership hire across finance + biz ops, you’ll own everything from forecasting and budgeting, creating strategy for pricing and GTM revenue, process design, compliance, and vendor management. You will be balancing both the strategy and execution on these tasks
- You’ll be the operational backbone to our technical and GTM teams - and a thought partner to the founders as we plan for the next stage of growth
- Own financial modeling, planning, and forecasting
- Build systems for budgeting, cash management, and reporting
- Design and optimize internal operations, including billing, contracts, and tools
- Manage external vendors: accounting, legal, HR, compliance
- Define and track key KPIs across the business
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team on strategic planning and capital allocation
Our take
Tavus is an AI video cloning tool that uses synthetic media, more popularly known as ‘deepfakes’, for companies to produce customizable and scalable content. The platform enables businesses to create videos for marketing, outreach, sales, recruiting and more while tailoring them to specific individuals.
Other players in the field include Loom and Vidyard, both of which have proven the value of personalised videos for businesses, but whose services take time. Tavus is scalable as its platform can generate thousands of personalised videos in the time it would take to record just one. The videos generated currently come with imperfections, notably the lip-syncing and video-cloning, which Tavus tenuously claims create more engaging content.
Synthetic media was called upon heavily during the pandemic, as companies created AI-copilots that could host conferences and pitches remotely, so it will be interesting to see how this industry continues to grow as time goes on. Tavus is young, but is expanding quickly with new products like its Phoenix-3 and Raven-0 models, having been backed by Sequoia and Y Combinator, amongst other top firms. Off the back of 2024 Series A funding, it has the means to accelerate development and growth.
