Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for someone with top tier strategic and operational capabilities who’s worked in both high growth and high performance environments demonstrating sufficient financial, investment and managerial acumen (e.g. startups and possibly mix of management consulting, finance, or investment banking and strategic finance)
- 10+ years working experience in Venture Capital or Private Equity backed start-ups, Finance or Consulting
- Experience in a senior management role ideally with both business operations and financial responsibilities at a high-growth organization
- Relevant working experience in forecasting, budgeting, strategy, and driving key operational results through effective capital allocation
- Successful track record in supporting equity financing rounds (ideally through Series B and beyond)
- Strong growth mentality with the ability to build good working relationships with many different internal and external stakeholders, ability to influence others and inspire change
- Very hands on who can balance short term needs with long term objectives
- Comfortable with making traceoffs between short term and long term objectives and making decisions with less than 100% of the data
- Good blend of hands-on FP&A and Accounting desired
- Must be US East Coast time zone, prefer NY-area based with ability to come to the office one day a week (located around Union Square)
What the job involves
- As Head of Finance, you will be a critical cross-functional leader across finance, planning, and strategy; charged with continuing to build scalable operations and executing strategic financial and growth initiatives to evolve the organization
- You will lead a team that is focused on financial planning and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, and financial risk management; including specific ownership of revenue optimization, debt, incentives and key spend decisions
- You will also be responsible for resource allocation, process improvement, and change management utilizing data and informed capital allocation to steer company initiatives
- Oversee strategic financial planning and analysis, while streamlining processes
- Lead financial reporting and compliance
- Manage cash flow and capital
- Drive budget and cost management
- Oversee risk management
- Lead finance team
- Support revenue function with comp plan and analysis
- Develop ROI framework and metric-driven across the company
Our take
A.Team’s member-only gig marketplace for what it calls “builders” – product engineers and other high-skill tech workers – allows member companies to quickly put together distributed teams. Despite only emerging from stealth mode in the second quarter of 2022, the startup has already onboarded the likes of Lyft, The Economist and Pepsico.
The company’s launch came at an opportune time. As the so-called “great resignation” opens up a world of opportunities for skilled tech workers, the global gig economy is generating more money than ever, and remote-friendly working conditions mean that rapidly formed, distributed teams are now working on more high stakes projects than ever.
A.Team has wasted no time in raising huge amounts of funding to scale and expand both its in-house team as well as its network of members. Firstminutecapital provided VC funding in 2023 so the next big challenge will be to keep standards high, from both the client and service provider perspective, as the company grows rapidly.
