Role
Who you are
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, with a specialization in Machine Learning
- Projected to graduate by Spring 2026
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies (e.g., unit testing frameworks, CI/CD)
- Familiarity with backend software development, particularly in Java
- Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th
- Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period
- Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa
- Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates
Desirable
- Experience with backend services
- Proficiency in languages like Java and asynchronous web application programming
- Familiarity with databases like NoSQL and SQL
- Experience with applications such as Kubernetes and AWS
- Experience with automated testing
What the job involves
- This internship can be completed from our San Mateo or San Diego offices or Fully Remote
- Learn the architecture of the components maintained by the team for PS5 services
- Maintain, update, and extend RESTful Web Services APIs
- Work with algorithms that handle massive data sets to power these APIs
- Produce detailed design and development documentation
- Develop using agile methodology

PlayStation faces competition in its field from the likes of Microsoft, with its Xbox range, and PC gaming, which has been becoming more popular in recent years. Regardless, PlayStation shows no signs of slowing down. The upcoming implementation of in-game ads in free games looks to significantly increase revenue, and the wider PlayStation gaming experience also appears to be evolving from plans to launch live service games in upcoming years.
