Role
Who you are
- Previous experience in a Sales Engineering role within the eCommerce or retail industry
- Ability to solve customer-specific business problems and apply Recharge solutions effectively
- Strong customer-facing skills to communicate our vision to technical and executive audiences
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a pre-sales or post-sales Solutions role, working in a customer-facing role
- Strong understanding of programming and debugging, as well as REST APIs and Webhooks (Python or Javascript preferred)
- Experience with data architecture and data analytics
- An understanding of the eCommerce industry and strong technical sales background
- Great oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to see prospects
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, or similar), or equivalent practical experience, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development
What the job involves
- We are seeking a motivated Senior Sales Engineer to join our dynamic team and drive the execution of our enterprise sales strategy in collaboration with our sales organization
- As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical resource during the pre-sales process, guiding technical sales discussions, conducting product demonstrations, and advising on best practices for implementing our tools
- Your expertise will be instrumental in generating sales opportunities and providing a consultative approach throughout the enterprise sales process
- Sales Engineering is the technical backbone of the Sales team
- We don’t just validate solutions—we create them
- By working alongside Account Executives, we ensure that merchants receive not only the best possible configuration of Recharge’s out-of-the-box features but also bespoke implementations that enhance functionality through custom integrations
- Our team plays a crucial role in Recharge’s long-term success by accelerating deal cycles, improving merchant satisfaction, and influencing our product development
- As both technical experts and strategic problem solvers, we empower sales, drive innovation, and contribute directly to revenue growth
- Please note: this is a hybrid role, based out of our Santa Monica headquarters. 3-4 times per month in the office is expected
- You'll act as the primary technical leader and trusted advisor to our Enterprise sales team and prospects
- Engage directly with prospects to demonstrate the value of our technology throughout the sales cycle, from demo to proof of concept to design and implementation
- Prepare for and lead technical discussions with various stakeholders, ranging from executive-level business leaders to software engineers
- Consult with prospects to provide technical insight and guidance on the best go-to-market strategies utilizing our products
- Stay ahead of developments in the eCommerce & retail industries and Shopify ecosystem, continually evaluating how to position our offerings during the sales cycle
- Represent Recharge at industry trade shows, conferences, and third-party sponsorships, showcasing our products and expertise
- Collaborate with internal teams at Recharge to enhance our products and enablement strategies
Our take
Ecommerce platform Recharge has been in operation since 2014, helping brands set up and manage a subscription business, removing the operational inefficiencies that brands would face when attempting to manage this themselves. Its cloud-based subscription management platform aims to offer merchants flexibility by leading with an API focus.
Recharge’s basic premise has proven a smart one, with the eCommerce subscription market growing substantially since the company was founded. It of course rose particularly steeply over the pandemic, with the closure of brick-and-mortar stores, but in general still follows a market trend towards direct-to-consumer relationships - promising a growing market for Recharge going forwards.
Success for the company has been clear, with its merchant roster boasting several thousand users including Harry’s, Oatly, and BrewDog. The sector has attracted substantial funding, with Recharge completing a remarkable funding round in 2021. This came atop its already stable, cash-flow-positive business, and supported its further progress as the subscription industry developed. The company is focused on maintaining its strong position, with new updates and improvements to its offering including Retain, a suite of tools designed to support retention throughout the subscriber lifecycle.
