Role
Who you are
- Alignment with our Core Values
- 5+ years of experience with cloud technologies (with a preference for AWS) supporting engineering teams in a DevOps Engineering, Infrastructure, or similar role
- Deep knowledge of Linux systems and programming languages, such as Bash, Python, etc
- Deep knowledge of AWS and has helped a SAAS company migrate its services from on-prem to AWS
- Understand microservices architecture that utilizes both REST APIs and event-based architecture from a security perspective (for example, understanding the vulnerabilities of HTTP Protocol)
- Worked on a complex cloud system, leveraging native AWS components such the likes of EKS, S3, SNS, SQS, AmazonMQ, Elasticache, Opensearch, Keyspaces, and more
- Top-notch team communicator, who enjoys sharing knowledge with peers
- Able to work 40 hours a week
- Authorized to work in Canada (anywhere in Canada works for us) or the Netherlands
- Willing to work remotely as a contractor
What the job involves
- Work on building and maintaining our AWS infrastructure
- Suggest, design, and implement functionalities and features defined by the Product team
- Responsibly investigate issues and propose improvements to the overall security of the system
- Suggest, design, and implement solutions for the resilience and high availability of the system
- Identify and propose ideas to improve the cost efficiency of the system
- Maintain the infrastructure architecture documentation diagrams
- Provide insights on our platform and build tools to track its health
- Advocate for and implement observability, monitoring, and alerting tooling
- Ensure the health of the platform, proactively assessing risks and escalating them, and responding to alerts as needed
- Participate in Agile planning to organize your priorities and results in alignment with the team’s sprints and roadmap
- Collaborate closely with teammates and internal stakeholders to ensure a stable platform
- Design, develop, and maintain the CI/CD pipeline and tooling for Engineering teams, promote DevOps culture
- Build and maintain automations necessary to support continuous development
- Enable development in parallel without compromising stability or security of the product
- Create and maintain tooling to enable the engineering teams to work on our AWS infrastructure
- Design, implement, and maintain components of the pipeline (e.g. automation testing, unit tests, integration checks..)
- Ensure SLAs for defined products are met
- Ensure security, availability, resilience, and failover targets are met
- Maintain system health by defining, deploying, and configuring required logging, monitoring, and alerting functionality
- Respond to alerts and notifications for at-risk or failed performance
