Role
Who you are
- A strong sense of visual and interaction design, paired with an instinct for clean abstractions, will be key to success in this role
- We value engineers who take pride in crafting polished UIs, have a track record of self-initiated projects or end-to-end ownership, and are motivated by building experiences users love
- Experience in fintech is a strong plus, as is a forward-looking mindset that’s excited by the potential of web3 applications
- 7+ years of professional experience building modern web applications with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React
- Strong proficiency in HTML/CSS, responsive layout techniques, and browser compatibility best practices
- Deep experience integrating with RESTful APIs, gRPC, GraphQL, and WebSocket services; familiarity with backend technologies such as Node.js, Express, and tRPC for effective integration
- Proficient in frontend performance optimization and tooling (e.g. Webpack, Lighthouse, bundle analysis)
- Experience writing and maintaining test suites using Playwright or equivalent (e.g. Cypress, Jest)
- Familiarity with web security principles (XSS, CSRF, CORS) and how to mitigate common risks
- Comfortable with Git workflows, code reviews, and modern CI/CD practices
- Experience collaborating closely with designers and translating high-fidelity designs into code
- Self-starter with a track record of end-to-end project ownership or meaningful side projects
- Strong preference to keep things simple, ship fast, and avoid overengineering
- Professional experience in fintech or financial systems. Professional Web3 / Crypto experience is a plus
- UI Craftsmanship & Design Sensibility: You bring a high bar for interface quality, design fidelity, and user experience
- Frontend Architecture Expertise: You’ve built and maintained scalable component systems and thoughtfully abstracted frontend codebases
- Ownership & Autonomy: You operate independently, drive projects end-to-end, and proactively identify areas for improvement
- Attention to Detail: You sweat the small stuff, from animation timing to edge-case handling, and consistently ship polished work
- Collaborative Energy: You work closely with design, product, and backend teams to build shared solutions and move quickly
- Fintech and/or Web3 Experience: You have a background in, or strong curiosity about, financial systems or decentralized applications

- As a Frontend Engineer at Bastion, you’ll play a critical role in crafting exceptional user experiences across our core products
- You'll lead the development of elegant, responsive, and accessible interfaces, transforming complex requirements into simple and performant UIs
- Your work will directly shape how users interact with Bastion’s compliance and fintech tools, impacting everything from initial onboarding to real-time workflows
- This is a 0 → 1 environment ideal for engineers who thrive on ownership, autonomy, and hands-on collaboration with designers, backend engineers, and product stakeholders
- You'll influence architectural decisions, define frontend patterns, and contribute to our design system as we scale
- Design, build, and maintain responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces
- Translate product and design specs into polished, production-ready React components
- Develop and maintain scalable frontend architecture and reusable component libraries
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including product, design, and backend — to deliver end-to-end features
- Integrate APIs (gRPC, tRPC, GraphQL, WebSockets) and manage asynchronous data flows
- Optimize performance through bundling strategies, lazy loading, and code splitting
- Write robust test coverage (unit, integration, E2E) using modern testing frameworks
- Apply security best practices to prevent common frontend vulnerabilities
- Contribute to frontend build and CI/CD workflows, ensuring reliable deployments
- Document patterns, decisions, and best practices to support team-wide maintainability

There is a lot for businesses to consider nowadays, as the evolution of the internet and technology is often hard to keep up with. Founded in 2023, Bastion is very new to the scene and sets out to enable companies to seamlessly integrate web3 infrastructure into enterprise technologies. The white-label platform uses a cost effective product suite of tools (from custodial wallets to data analytics) for businesses to determine its on and off-chain products and further develop digital assets to better their consumers experience.
Founded by two a16z Crypto C-suiters the platform combines the simplicity of web2 with the capabilities of web3. The company acquired an impressive seed round of funding and the premise looks promising. It will be really exciting to see how Bastion takes on competitors in the market and set themselves apart.
