Role
Who you are
- Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical engineering
- Relevant experience (two years minimum) in building products/solutions in a fast-paced environment
- A keen interest in solving the problems within the recycling industry
- Experience using Solidworks or alternative CAD and producing drawings for manufacture
- Hands-on attitude: you are happy to go and sort out problems at client locations if need be or to assemble one of our products and do some troubleshooting when necessary
What the job involves
- The Production Team is looking for a mechanical engineer with at least two years of relevant experience to model robotic solutions for our clients, feedback problems during design, and highlight improvements that we can make to the product
- This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge robotic technology that is transforming the industry, collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers and technicians, and directly contribute to building solutions that solve real-world challenges
- Mechanical design (assembly, drawings to suppliers, etc.) to help create solutions and retrofit our technology into our client's facilities across Europe
- Help to ensure that projects are led and delivered effectively and at a very high pace. Follow-up with clients, send them reports and documents related to the project. Communicate well with clients and internal teams to work collaboratively
- Travel to different facilities as required by the project's needs; ad hoc site visits and attending installations once a month over weekends
- Perform ad-hoc design modifications of some of our standard products for specific use cases
- Drive the quality of our machinery, focusing on repeatability to create more impressive, efficient sorting solutions. You will be working on live projects and continuous improvement projects
- Improving our product and processes to aid the company’s scalability and quality, with a clear focus on documentation at the forefront
- Review our product from a value engineering perspective

As well as conducting paid pilots with the waste industry, it has partnered with Imperial College as well as Microsoft and Netherland’s Delft University to develop AI & machine learning. This ensures Recycleye has the newest capabilities and systems within its pipeline, keeping it at the forefront of development.
The global market for waste sorting is headed towards being worth more than $2 trillion a year, with the need for transparent and low cost solutions only expected to grow. Recycleye's system is affordable, data driven, and reduces the need for manual sorting, all contributing to the positive attention it has accrued. On top of this, significant funding has been raised by the company than will help scale operations and further improve its system's sorting accuracy.
