Our take

Maisha Meds is an organisation working to improve health care in Africa. Since its inception in 2017, it has grown to support over 4M patient encounters across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, and Zambia through the company's suite of software products.

By building a financial and technology infrastructure, Maisha Meds is streamlining distribution and improving transparency in an environment where the majority of patients are accessing primary health care via the private sector and often paying cash for low-quality medicines. With a focus on malaria case management, injectable contraceptives, and prenatal care, Maisha Meds is enabling global health funders to pay for health outcomes at the last mile.

Backed by USAID Development Innovation Ventures, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada, and Pfizer, the startup is looking to build further relationships with multilateral global health funders, pharmaceutical companies and national health insurance funds.
