Who you are
- The ideal candidate is creative, proactive, organized, a strong communicator, and passionate about IXL’s mission to impact education
- BA/BS degree required
- 2+ years of email marketing experience
- 1+ year working in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, building emails, templates, dynamic fields, and automated journeys
- 1+ year working with customer engagement platforms (ex: Customer.io, Klaviyo, Braze, HubSpot, etc.)
- Proficient with HTML/CSS
- Proficient with email QA, audience segmentation, list management, and email deliverability
- Not required, but preferred: A basic understanding of AMPscript and/or Liquid template language
- Experience planning, executing, and analyzing A/B and multivariate testing
- Exceptional project management skills, extremely detail-oriented, and ability to multitask
- Strong project management skills with some experience using project management tools (ex: Jira, Airtable, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving skills: able to anticipate obstacles and identify opportunities
- Solid interpersonal skills: You are a team player with effective written and verbal communication skills, and can work cross-functionally with stakeholders
- Can identify and develop email system-related improvements and efficiencies
- Understands email marketing best practices
What the job involves
- As a part of a small Email Marketing team, you will play a direct role in building our email marketing program and engaging our customers and prospective base of customers—which includes educators, students, parents, and administrators—at all stages of their lifecycle
- You will partner with content and creative teams, marketing managers, and business stakeholders to take emails from concept to delivery
- You will be responsible for building emails in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Using email best practices and implementing A/B testing, you will optimize response and conversions while striving to create the best possible user experience
- This role is a key part of our email team, and your day-to-day will focus on email production and reporting, with room to grow as the program develops
- Develop, manage, and launch dynamic end-to-end email marketing campaigns
- Manage design requests, feedback and timelines
- Conduct thorough QA of all message elements, including personalized content and mobile device rendering, to ensure the success of email execution
- Work seamlessly in partnership with the content, design, engineering, and product teams
- Performance analysis: Continuously optimize email campaigns through testing, measuring impact, and iterating for improved results in alignment with organizational goals
- Perform list segmentation, audience filtering, list validation; monitor deliverability
- Technical oversight: Collaborate with IT and ESPs to maintain and optimize email infrastructure, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement enhancements
- Identify, initiate, and develop complex email system-related improvements and efficiencies. Work independently and take initiative to question things
- Keep up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in email marketing
- Help build and maintain email documentation (data dictionaries, standard operating procedures, etc.)

IXL also facilitates Wyzant, the largest tutoring network in the US, and ABCya, which has published more than 300 educational computer games.
With a vast internet network of companies under its belt, IXL is still investing in innovation in the 2020s. In 2022, it acquired Curiosity Media which is responsible for Fluencia. This Spanish language learning app uses neuroscience research to perfect the learning of the Spanish language, exemplifying how IXL has grown from a revolutionary online learning platform to a multi-pronged investor in education. That being said, it still releases its own groundbreaking products such as the IXL Math "Takeoff" platform, a personalised whole-class instruction resource for teachers.
