Role
Who you are
- 3+ years conducting research, preferably for a B2B, digital-first company and/or an online marketplace
- Proven track record of taking research data and transforming it into actionable insights that drive real decisions and business impact
- Experience with all aspects of the research process: study design, recruitment, moderation, questionnaire design, analysis, reporting, and readout presentations
- Experience with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods: surveys, in-depth interviews, focus groups, field research, brand tracking, etc
- Ability to use data from multiple sources to tell a story and develop recommendations
- A transparent, collaborative approach to working that invites others into the process, keeps them informed and involved, and welcomes feedback
- Experience building relationships with cross-functional peers and partners
- Strong communication, and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- A bias for action and experimentation: “Try it and track it” is a key tenet of ezCater culture
What the job involves
- As a Customer Insights Senior Associate you will conduct qualitative and quantitative research to understand our customer segments and key industry verticals. You’ll lead research studies, as well as work hand-in-hand with Customer Insights leadership to gather key insights and reinforce the voice of our customer within marketing and the overall business
- You’ll understand customer journeys and unearth insights that make our messaging, marketing, and communications more effective and customer-centric
- If you are passionate about getting to know customers and you love transforming customer learnings into actionable insights critical to business success, we’d love to talk to you
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify research needs and develop research plans
- Clearly define research questions, approach, and analysis plan
- Organize, conduct, and report on primary customer research and market research
- Work alongside external research vendors as needed, and provide feedback to them
- Synthesize, summarize, and devise actionable strategies from customer insights
- Present relevant insights to a variety of stakeholders and partners
- Make substantive recommendations regarding ezCater marketing, messaging, products and services, and overall customer experience
- Be a corporate customer advocate
- Deeply understand our corporate customers, market, and product
- Work hand-in-hand with the Customer Insights manager and director to:
- Influence the corporate customer research roadmap, including planning & execution
- Conduct industry trend and thought leadership research
- Moderate customer interviews
- Analyze quantitative survey and transactional data
- Contribute to an internal research repository
- Collaborate with peers in UX Research and Research Operations

Our take
ezCater is an online marketplace app that provides catering options for businesses, working with food providers who enter their menus onto the app for customers to browse. ezCater sends each store its orders and handles customer service while the food providers fulfil the orders.
ezCater profits by charging a small commission on all orders that restaurants fulfil. The company counts JLL, RingCentral and the San Francisco 49ers among its customers. It previously fuelled expansion through acquisitions such as online catering platform GoCater in 2018 and MonkeySoft Solutions in 2019.
ezCater has enjoyed strong growth so far, in part by focusing on meal deliveries to a growing hybrid workforce as an employee benefit. It has been eyeing an IPO for some time, though these plans are yet to come to fruition. In the meantime, it has continued to develop its technology and unveiled a new supplier diversity program to uplift small businesses owned by underrepresented groups.
