Who you are
- Motivated, curious and inquisitive team player, challenging the status quo and bringing new ideas into action

- A proven track record in building data platforms in fast-moving environments
- Confident and experienced with Kubernetes, terraform,

- Experience with data engineering, data pipelines and data storage

What the job involves
- To achieve our goals, we are building a state-of-the-art Data Platform, which transfers our satellite data to the cloud, where we process, enrich, and deliver analysis-ready geospatial data to internal and external customers
- As our senior cloud engineer, you will contribute to developing this Data Platform, focusing especially on operations
- You will have a key role in designing and infrastructure using, while using modern technologies, including Python, S3, Docker, Terraform, Zarr, Cloud-Optimized GeoTiffs, STAC, PostGIS, and more
- Working closely with other cloud engineers in the infrastructure team and stakeholders, e.g., from the software, product, and image segment teams, to ensure their requirements are being met
- Collaboratively designing and implementing the different components of a Cloud-Native Geospatial Data Platform to enable its acquisition, dissemination and intelligence abilities
- Building and maintaining a state-of-the-art Cloud environment for all engineering sections of the company to provide the best tools and methodologies to all
- Keeping up to date with and evaluating new technologies, frameworks and standards
- Mentoring cloud engineers to help them reach their potential
Our take
Efforts to increase the efficiency of agriculture are a staple of European sustainability efforts, but Constellr digs deeper than other agriculture monitoring companies in that it aims to save costs on the technology used to monitor farming, reducing it by up to 97%.
German-born Constellr uses thermal infrared microsatellites to monitor global land surface temperature (LST), analysing and diagnosing the right amount of water needed for optimum crop yields. With around 70% of the world’s freshwater used in agriculture, about 40% is wasted. Constellr’s savvy use of space technology for good could be a long-lasting and highly impactful solution, and its founder's backgrounds as environmental researchers add to the company’s credibility.
Awarded a significant 10 million euros in seed funding in November 2022, Constellr’s partners have included Lakestar and FTTF, among many others. The number of investors is unsurprising, with Constellr’s potential to save up to 2 trillion euros in agricultural water wastage by the end of the 2020s as much a moral motive as it is a financial one.
