- Deep experience with PHP and Symfony
- Experience working across both backend and frontend (TypeScript or React is a plus)

- Able to operate independently in a fast-moving environment

What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us scale
- You’ll be joining a senior engineering team focused on building and integrating the core systems that power our online platform, POS, and merchant tools
- Work across our three core platforms: Promenade Dashboard, BloomNation POS, BloomNation Premium Sites
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party and internal systems using REST and GraphQL APIs
- Write clean, scalable, and tested code using tools like PHPUnit, PHPStan, Rector, PHP-CS-Fixer, and Playwright
- Help modernize legacy systems with PHP 8.3, Symfony, and automated upgrade tooling (Rector, nikic/PHP-Parser)
- Contribute to architectural discussions and help improve team-wide best practices
- Review code, collaborate with other senior engineers, and contribute across projects where needed
- It’s typical for new hires to have their first commit merged within the first day or two and to ship something to production during their first or second week

Our take
Promenade is a parent company for multiple platforms designed to help solve issues in the food, beverage, and florist industries. Initially, it brought technology to the florist industry, allowing the purchaser of gifts to see photos of the actual arrangement before it was delivered. The company also set up a free online florist store with sales analytics, tools, a website builder, and more.
The company has expanded its offering to help other businesses access the online space by offering them the tools to create delivery options, point-of-sale services, and inventory management; including Dig-In to pizzerias, and Swigg to liquor stores.
Third-party delivery apps pose some threat to the value that Promenade can offer to small businesses. However, its use of Tortoise delivery robots to provide contactless flower delivery during the pandemic demonstrated an intuitive approach to the complex problems that local businesses face, which bodes well for how it will create business value in the future.
