Who you are

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field (preferred)
Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in high-risk credit underwriting, credit analysis in payments
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to interpret financial statements and credit reports
Excellent rapport-building skills to establish and maintain strong working relationships across teams and reporting levels
Flexibility to work overtime to meet business demands
A collaborative, team-oriented attitude with a positive and proactive approach to work
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and drive results
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel

What the job involves

The Credit Analyst will assess the creditworthiness of prospective and existing merchants, analyze financial data, and mitigate risks to ensure compliance with our risk management policies
This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the company against financial losses while fostering relationships with our merchant partners
Assess merchant credit applications, validate supporting documentation, and analyze financial and credit data to determine risk levels
Understand and apply credit/risk scales, bank policies, and compliance standards
Understand risks associated with various business verticals and merchant business models
Navigate multiple systems to status applications, update notes, and manage application workflows
Obtain and evaluate credit ratings from bureaus, banks, and trades
Collaborate with Risk Management to resolve application inquiries and periodic merchant account assessments as needed
Support internal and external audit inquiries
Suggest and implement process improvements contributing to greater efficiency
Work accurately in a fast-paced environment to meet SLA requirements
Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental operations

Our take

For many businesses, accepting debit and credit card payments can be a tricky process. Payfirma is setting out to change this by offering solutions for both in-store and online card payments.

When Payfirma first launched, it entered into an already competitive market, home to a number of big-name payment processors such as WorldPay and Stripe. However, it managed to set itself apart from its rivals with its multi-channel solutions, offering an all-in-one service for in-person and online transactions. This has proven largely successful, with the company accruing significant funding to accelerate an expansion into the wider North American market.

Payfirma faces a number of challenges, not only stiff competition from the payments market but a history of boardroom struggles. The company's merger with Merrco Payments marked a fresh start in 2018, and in 2024, it rebranded to KORT Payments. If it can consolidate its progress into the US market, it stands to see impressive revenue growth.
