Role
Who you are
- Strong portfolio that demonstrates outstanding multi-platform design system experience (visual design a plus) and product thinking
- 3-5 years as a design systems team member in a large product design organization
- Organized and structured work management habits, and processes that create clarity and consistency
- Strong communication and storytelling skills with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and rationale
- Experience collaborating with Product Management and Engineering counterparts
- Healthy curiosity and a habit of challenging your own assumptions
- High degree of self-awareness with a growth mindset
- Ability to work unsupervised in an Agile environment
- Very high level of proficiency with Figma, including components, auto-layout, prototyping, tokens, animation, plugins, etc
- Proven understanding of standard accessibility guidelines, experience meeting and exceeding them
- An understanding of front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript+React is a huge plus
- Experience working with decentralized or global teams is a plus
- Experience crafting for a global audience in many languages is a plus
- Experience with consumer gaming or media products is a plus
What the job involves
- Our Design Systems team is a key pillar of design execution at PlayStation
- The group works horizontally across all PlayStation consumer products and platforms to provide product design teams with the component libraries and design documentation needed to create product specifications that are ready for prototyping and engineering
- They encourage consistency across our product areas while also allowing for innovation and creativity to push the system forward
- They have a mastery of our design tools and tame the many projects in flight by evangelizing consistent process and structure
- You are an experienced design systems thinker, familiar with the challenges of scaling systems across products, platforms, cultures, and disciplines
- You are extremely proficient with your design tools, creating files that are meant to be used by other designers, engineers, and the rest of the product team
- You really sweat the details, understanding that small changes can impact many products and millions of users
- You’re not an engineer, but you have a general understanding of typical front-end technologies
- Help build PlayStation’s design systems, visual language, and tokens system with a focus on clarity, performance, high craft and ease-of-use
- Navigate and organize complex and often ambiguous problem spaces
- Collaborate closely with product designers and engineers to understand system needs, dependencies, and priorities
- Actively influence the design system strategy and roadmap
- Develop and maintain reusable Figma components, design tokens, and written documentation
- Document design decisions visually, in writing, and in presentations
- Be a champion for inclusive design and accessibility
- Collaborate with designers across the company to encourage consistency through design system adoption, enforcing standards while also accepting feedback and innovation
- Conceptualize and implement new tools and processes for improving design at PlayStation

Its consoles are iconic in the gaming community - Playstation has produced both the top-selling and fastest-selling console of all time - and the company is still pushing boundaries. Its current flagship - the PS5 - promises to revolutionize gaming, featuring new technology that will create improvements across the board.
