Who you are
- 3–5 years of experience in management consulting, high-growth startups, strategy roles, or similarly rigorous environments
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills paired with creative problem-solving ability

What the job involves
- This is not a traditional strategy role. This is a growth role inside a scaled platform
- The Strategy Manager will operate as a force multiplier to the Head of Strategy, serving as both architect and operator while owning high-impact initiatives across the Events business
- You will sit at the center of strategy, operations, analytics, and executive communication, partnering directly with leaders across content, talent, marketing, sponsorship, and finance while shaping the future of Fanatics Fest and the broader Fanatics Events portfolio
- You will help define what we build, how we measure it, and how we scale it
- You will move fluidly between ideation and modeling, between executive storytelling and hands-on execution
- You will not simply analyze the business. You will shape it, improve it, and expand it
- This role is intentionally designed to grow. As you demonstrate ownership and impact, your scope will expand into broader strategic and operational leadership across Fanatics Events, with meaningful visibility across the Fanatics enterprise
- If you want to invent new sports experiences, quantify their impact, and then bring them to life in front of hundreds of thousands of fans, this is that opportunity
- Own executive materials and strategic updates for Fanatics Fest and Fanatics Events, driving clarity and decision-making at the highest levels of the company
- Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership across content, talent, marketing, sponsorship, and operations
- Define and continuously refine how we measure enterprise value, including media impressions, social reach, Fanatics ONE growth, new collectors created, and cross-vertical impact
- Lead high-priority initiatives end to end, including new event concepts, international expansion strategy, flagship fan moments, and GTM planning
- Generate bold new ideas and take responsibility for turning the strongest concepts into reality
- Improve processes across forecasting, budgeting, KPI tracking, and reporting through stronger systems and AI-enabled tools
- Partner closely with Finance on ticket forecasts, sponsorship economics, content investments, and ROI analysis, translating insights into clear recommendations
- Build durable relationships across Fanatics verticals and within the broader sports and media ecosystem
- Operate with urgency and ownership during cyclical peak periods leading up to major event weekends
Our take
Fanatics is a sports-based eCommerce company that offers teams and leagues a convenient online platform through which to sell licensed apparel and merchandise. As well as the Fanatics online store, it runs the online stores of dozens of teams and leagues including the MLB, NHL, NBA, and NASCAR. They've also signed a number of exclusive deals to become the sole vendors of officially licensed merch for top athletes across multiple leagues.
It operates using a Cloud Commerce sales system which tracks clicks and purchases on the site as well as sports and player news and updates to inform retail and marketing decisions in real time. The company was first established as Football Fanatics, a chain of bricks-and-mortar stores in malls across Florida. Since then, it has been bought out by GSI Commerce and expanded.
Looking ahead, while its commerce business remains its biggest source of revenue for now, Fanatics has expanded into livestreamed shopping around collectibles and trading cards, acquiring Tops and hiring Snap and Alphabet executive to launch this new business. It also has an NFT arm in Candy Digital, of which it’s the majority owner, as well as a fledgling betting and gaming division.
