Role
Who you are
- You collected 4+ years of professional experience in software development, covering both backend, frontend, and API integration
- You recognise the value of software quality standards
- You know how to write distributed, and resilient services in Kotlin (or Java)
- You are familiar with git, pull requests, and typical code review processes
- Experience in Kotlin (or Java) is a must
- Experience with NoSQL databases (preferably MongoDB) is a plus
- You have great communication and collaboration skills
- You have the ability to work independently
- You speak fluent English which is our company language
- You have your residence in Germany or Europe

Application process
- Application screening: Our People & Culture team screens all applications in collaboration with the teams
- P&C Screening Interview (30 min): This is the first step of the interview process, you will meet your recruiter here. The recruiter will give you an overview about the hiring process next steps and will answer any cultural related questions
- First interview (45 min): In this interview, you will meet your potential direct colleagues. The goal of this interview is getting-to-know each other and aligning expectations from both ends to get a feeling if this would be a good fit for both sides
- Pair-programming (1,5 h): This session is more hands-on and you would dive into a technical challenge in a pair-programming setting with two of your potential colleagues. Getting an idea of your technical skills is, of course, one aspect but most important for us here is to understand how you approach a topic and if you all collaborate well
- Culture Add(1 h): In this last step, we want to introduce you to a few other people who you would be working with, so you get a good image of our team in total. Here, we will only focus on more cultural topics
Our take
People around the world are beginning to switch from diesel and petrol to electric vehicles, but cutting-edge technology does have pitfalls. Charging stations can be scarce and it can be difficult to find out which stations nearby are available, which can be risky for electric vehicle owners and ultimately prevents many people from making the switch.
Elvah provides a mobile app for locating electric vehicle charge points, leveraging live data driven by community feedback to help users find suitable stations. The service is integrated within the charging stations it provides and operates based on a monthly energy subscription, also giving users the option to get e-car breakdown assistance and onward travel insurance.
While the number of electric vehicle charging points across the world is increasing rapidly every day, Elvah has been wise to identify that the problem is often not just finding one, but finding a suitable one. Its approach has clearly made an impression, as utilities giant E.ON acquired the company in 2023. Together with E.ON, so says CEO Gowrynath Sivaganeshamoorthy, Elvah will "further develop the platform and make charging e-cars even easier and more reliable."
