What the job involves

Xpansiv is seeking a Sales Development & Market Research Intern to support our commercial teams during the summer internship period
This role provides hands‑on exposure to sales operations, sales support, and market research activities within a fast‑paced, commodity‑focused organization
The internship is designed as a broad, learning‑oriented role, supporting Sales Operations and Sales Development teams with day‑to‑day coordination, research, and analysis tasks
The intern will work closely with multiple stakeholders across the sales organization and gain practical experience supporting revenue‑generating teams
Sales Operations & Support
Provide part‑time support to Sales Operations teams
Assist with coordination of sales operations tasks as defined by Sales Operations stakeholders
Support internal sales processes across teams as needed
Sales Development Support
Support SDRs and sales team members with outbound sales activities
Assist with target list creation for different industry sectors
Conduct research tasks requested by sales team members
Provide general, ad‑hoc sales support across the team
Market Research & Analysis
Conduct industry and market research, including:
Researching specific sectors and their use of environmental commodities (e.g., carbon offsets, RECs)
Identifying major market participants and potential customers
Perform basic sales and market analysis, such as:
Reviewing platform activity (bids, offers, transaction volumes)
Supporting proposal‑related and historical trading analysis
Learning & Cross‑Functional Exposure
Participate in structured learning sessions with senior leaders and stakeholders
Engage in planned intern program activities and office‑based exposure to the business

Our take

The market for carbon offsets and RECs is growing fast, with firms and businesses looking to trade to meet sustainability requirements and ESG goals. With the market currently fractured and somewhat murky, however, a wave of startups is emerging to establish a dominant exchange that’s both centralised and transparent. Xpansiv is one of them - and it’s gotten a strong headstart on the competition.

Xpansiv allows companies to trade environmental commodities including offsets, RECs, and differentiated fuels. The platform offers a range of marketplaces, alongside signal data, portfolio management capabilities, and global registries.

So it’s a comprehensive combination of exchanges, analytics, and tools. Its edge, however, comes from its extensive backing. It’s struck a long-term and hefty financing arrangement with Blackstone, the world’s largest private equity firm, and among its equity investors are BP, British Oil, Goldman Sachs and the Bank of America. This, in total, recently gave it a pre-IPO evaluation of over $1B.

With this top-tier industry involvement, Xpansiv looks set to net some major players. This will help Xpansiv establish itself as a leader in the emerging environmental and commodities exchange market.
