Platform Engineering Manager (hands-on), Neonomics

• You are a strong individual contributor who wants to grow into people leadership while still writing code and designing systems day to day (roughly 70% IC, 30% management)
• You have solid experience operating Kubernetes in production and understand what it takes to run it reliably at scale
• You are comfortable programming beyond shell scripts and care deeply about robust automation using modern languages and frameworks
• You strive to be declarative instead of imperative when it comes to infrastructure provisioning
• You know what it takes to operate code in production and understand the intricacies that come with running Java and JavaScript workloads using modern observability tools
• You understand security concepts and know how to implement them on multiple layers
• You enjoy mentoring, setting context, and giving feedback, and you are willing to take on people management responsibilities such as 1:1s, performance feedback, and hiring while staying hands-on
• You are a team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others grow, whether through pairing, code reviews, or documentation
• You actively seek feedback and take ownership of your work: we hate micromanaging, but we also expect you to deliver

Desirable

• Defining cross team strategy: treat infrastructure as an internal product that serves other business areas and collaborate with the other leads on shaping the technical direction
• Infrastructure provisioning: Use Terraform and adjacent tooling (like OPA policies, Atlantis etc.) to create the backbone of our infrastructure in GCP
• Tooling and platform development: Design and build internal tools, libraries, and services (e.g. admission controllers, GitHub bots, GitHub Actions workflows, CLIs) that make product teams faster and safer
• Golden Path implementations: Deliver “paved road” experiences—dashboards, reusable workflows for GitHub Actions pipelines, Terraform modules, devcontainers and similar—to give engineers high-quality defaults
• Security best practices: Stay up to date on security across the 4C layers—cloud, cluster, container, and code—and provide guidance to developers on implementing defense-in-depth strategies
• Observability tools: Build and maintain an observability toolbox for developers, preferably based on the Grafana stack (Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Alertmanager), while also being able to work with alternative solutions such as Datadog
• Hands-on technical leadership (≈70%): Own and contribute to projects end-to-end, from design docs and prototypes to implementation, rollout, and incident follow-up
• People management (≈30%): Run effective 1:1s, support growth and performance, collaborate with product and engineering leads on priorities, and participate in hiring and onboarding for the infra/tooling team

• Screening call - Intro call with the hiring manager, where we will discuss the opportunity and what you are looking for, as well as your experience. We will also touch on some technical topics. (45 minutes)
• Technical interview - Conducted by two senior engineers, we will tackle a couple of technical challenges. (90 minutes)
• Final interview - A call with the CPTO. (45 minutes)
