Role
Who you are
- In addition to tackling some of the big projects we also need someone who is happy to work on the little touches too, to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in with our nimble (but mighty!) team
- Your skills need to range from developing creative from ‘ideation & concept stage’, to tweaking and flexing current designs with one objective — to positively engage and impact our audience - there’s no vanilla marketing around here
- We have a strong visual identity already in hand, and we are looking for someone who sees the freedom in the framework and can help us take that visual storytelling to new and exciting places
- You are highly creatively curious, tuned into the happenings of the cultural world and able to apply them to the brand task at hand
- You have your finger on the pulse of media & culture; with an awareness of visual trends and the language used on social media
- You’re brimming with energy and a creative mind
- You have a strong sense of ‘brand personality’, a love for brand storytelling, and an ability to bring that to life in an engaging way
- You have a roll-up-your-sleeves & get involved mindset, we are a small team, we do the vast majority of work in house
- You possess the ability to inspire and lead creatively, motivating the team through your vision and passion, even without direct management responsibilities
- The ability to give and receive feedback (radical candour anyone?), understanding the need for it in strong creative practice
- A passionate, positive, self- starter who is keen to make their creative mark on a dynamic young business
- Solid design experience, ideally in a busy agency or high growth startup
- Experience in campaign ideation, thinking of marketing campaign hooks & ad concepts, along with graphic design
- A varied portfolio of design, with examples across digital to print, from layouts - that shows your creative genius to more copy-heavy print materials. You are happy to maintain this integrated approach in your next role and enjoy multidisciplinary working
- A flair for copy & brand tone; whilst copy is shared between the marketing team and not the sole responsibility of the Creative Designer, this role needs to be able to generate campaign copy ideas
- To be proficient in the use of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
- To be fairly confident in video editing, including AfterEffects and Premiere Pro
- Experience and/or an interest in designing wireframes & product features would be a nice to have but by no means essential
What the job involves
- We’re on the hunt for a Creative Designer who is as versatile as the humble Potato, and as audacious as a Romanesco Broccoli
- We are looking to bring a Senior Creative Designer into the team who will be a key crafter of rich brand experiences, which in turn will continue to build our movement for the Plant Curious
- This role will report into the Brand & Creative Lead, it’s a permanent opportunity
- Your creative desk will see a broad range of projects from packaging, to devising ad campaigns, to developing thumb-stopping social content
- From shopper marketing point of sale, to sustainability impact reports - there will be lots of different challenges to flex your creative wizardry on
- Coming up with original, creative ideas and taking them from scamp to delivery. Bringing bold ideas for allplants to cut through and reach the Plant Curious
- Designing, developing and executing both large and small creative briefs to a high standard
- Applying a social-first approach to campaign roll out, understanding the nuance of the different platforms and presenting commercial content solutions which are platform-led
- Planning, producing and directing photo shoots & campaign shoots with in house team and freelance support when needed
- Presenting your work and ideas to key stakeholders with clear commercial application and rationale
- Take responsibility for guardianship of our guidelines and how they are applied across all customer touch points, working with peers in marketing, product and content to ensure they are used effectively
Salary benchmarks
Our take
Allplants has found a niche within home food delivery, competing with the likes of Gousto and Hellofresh (albeit Allplants meals come prepared rather than as recipe boxes).
While vegans make up a smaller portion of the total market, the proportion of people trying to reduce their meat and dairy intake now makes up around 33% of people in the UK, giving them a big and growing market to tap into (especially as people trying to change their dieting habits are probably more likely to try new things).
The UK is also now the world leader for vegan food product launches, with 1 in 6 new food products coming to market claiming to be vegan. This is not just a London fad, with Allplants saying that only 38% of their customers are based in London.
As a certified B Corp, Allplants are taking their commitment to the environment seriously, and they’ve designed the packaging so it’s as environmentally-friendly as possible. They use offcuts of cotton denim from the factory floor to produce insulation, which goes in its cardboard boxes so it can be recycled and used again. This compares with the polystyrene boxes that are used for food logistics 90% of the time.
It's important that Allplants maintains high quality and a strong brand to build the defensibility of the business. It's been turning heads with the inclusion of recipes by influencer chefs such as Rachel Ama and striking ad campaigns "veganising" vintage fast food ads. It would be easy for bigger meal delivery companies to offer vegan alternatives, but not so easy for them to live up to Allplants' environmental credentials.
