Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of experience processing multi-state payroll
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations
- Strong knowledge of benefits-related processing (health, 401K, etc.)
- Remote working experience
- Proficient in Paylocity payroll software and Netsuite as ERP
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Fractional Payroll Specialist to join our team, working 20 hours per week
- In this role, you will manage end-to-end payroll operations for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate and timely processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- You will maintain payroll records in Paylocity, reconcile payroll data to the general ledger, and prepare payroll tax deposits and filings
- This role also supports employee payroll inquiries and year-end reporting, including W-2 preparation, while partnering with the People team and other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations
- You'll process multi-state payroll accurately and on time for hourly and salaried employees, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes consistent with federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain employee payroll records in Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Reconcile payroll data to general ledger accounts
- Prepare and submit payroll tax deposits and filings
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters
- Stay up-to-date on payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Assist with year-end payroll reporting (W-2, etc.)
- Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes and procedures
- Collaborate with the people department and other departments as needed
- Assist with other accounting tasks as assigned
