Role
Who you are
- You love shipping to customers. You’ll be on a full-stack team focused on understanding customers' needs and translating those needs from specifications into functional, production-ready code
- You know how to balance speed versus quality to support the features we build used by millions of people
- You enjoy tackling frontend challenges but don’t shy away from backend systems. You have at least 5+ years of software development experience and are comfortable working in both frontend and backend systems
- Zapier is built on Python, Django, React, Node.js, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Vercel and AWS. We use modern tools, which means you’ll have the opportunity to work with software like GitLab, Terraform, and much more
- You care about UI/UX principles. You have experience in responsive web design, UI/UX design principles and familiarity with prototyping tools like Figma and Storybook
- You have worked on large, complex projects. You are familiar with micro-service architecture and know what good looks like to maintain the quality of systems
- You understand how to build resilient code and make tradeoffs where necessary
- If you have experience working with Login and Signup features or an understanding of Authentication protocols such as OAuth2, SAML, JWT, etc., that’s a plus!
- You foster collaboration and have a platform mindset. We pride ourselves in working together as a team, and with other teams across the organization
- This includes Product and Design on a day-to-day basis but also includes teams like Security, Legal, Production Engineering and other Product teams. Strong teamwork and communication are essential; you’ll often find opportunities to drive work forward and document how things work

What the job involves
- We're looking for a front-end leaning Full-Stack Engineer to join our Identity Team at Zapier
- We are on a mission to scale our Authentication and Authorization systems across the product and platform to provide the Access Controls and User Management our customers need! Would you like to join us?
- Develop features and maintain our Login, Signup, and Settings services to support the creation, expansion, and maintenance of our services as we scale
- Improve the performance of our key frontend flows
- Take ownership of our FE component libraries that other teams use
- Improve the monitoring and observability of our services (SLOs, Alerts, Dashboards) and ensure our services are healthy
- Identify challenges and opportunities to reduce technical debt in our frontend services
- Support internal and external customers during a weekly team rotation
- Join our yearly company retreats that rotate to various cities throughout North America to meet and collaborate with Zapiens in person

Even before remote working became the "in thing", freelancers, small business owners, and large organisations have found themselves needing more and more software platforms to serve their operational needs. As people used more software services, Zapier founders saw the need to connect the actions between these software and save everyone some time.
Zapier is the largest integration and automation tool for businesses. Since its founding, Zapier has grown its suite of automation offerings across almost every mainstream software service. The company is one of the most successful to come out of Y Combinator and has also been a pioneer of remote working.
Zapier has so far been able to capitalise heavily on its advantage as one of the first entrants and has had very little actual competition. Software services aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and organisations are only going to need more of them. This puts Zapier in a strong position for growth, but also opens up room for bolder companies to get in on the action. Companies like Airtable and Integromat are already preying on more niche segments of Zapier's market share.
