Who you are
- This is an excellent development opportunity for someone studying towards their CIPD qualification to gain exposure across HR change processes within a supportive team of skilled HR Business Partners, or for an experienced HR professional seeking flexible, part-time work

- Experienced HR professional with an understanding of, and interest in supporting, people-focused change processes and programmes
- Strong administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail, robust record-keeping abilities, a solid understanding of GDPR, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with:
- A proven ability to advise on HR processes and policies with diverse audiences both in-person and virtually
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate, timely, and professional letters, notes, and HR correspondence
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with a track record of effectively managing multiple tasks, while remaining calm and adhering to deadlines in fast-paced environments
- Knowledge and application of UK employment law and HR policies, principles, procedures, and best practices with the ability to support consistent, fair and compliant decision‑making
- Awareness employment law principles relevant to organisational change (such as consultation, redundancy processes and selection) with an understanding of different change processes such as restructures, redundancies and contractual changes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, interpersonal, and customer service skills with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues across HR and the wider business
- Experience using HR systems or databases to record, track and update case activity with proficiency using Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook)
What the job involves
- Reports to: HR Change Delivery Lead or HR Business Partner
- The HR department plays an essential role in engaging and inspiring Cancer Research UK’s large and dynamic workforce (c. 4,000+ headcount) by delivering operational transformation, governance, and an employee experience that enables us to be an inclusive, sustainable, and agile organisation
- This role will be part of our HR Business Partnering team, which partners across the organisation to develop and deliver our ambitious people plans in support of our directorates’ strategies and business needs, while ensuring these align with the wider HR operating plan and priorities
- As an HR Coordinator for organisational change, you will play an impactful role in supporting the HR Business Partners in delivering people-focused change and consultation initiatives across Cancer Research UK
- This will involve proactively providing high‑quality administrative support across a range of change activities, helping ensure that processes are efficient, compliant, and enable managers and employees to navigate change with clarity and confidence
- By the end of this contract, your legacy will be to have made a pivotal contribution to delivering the people-focused aspects of the directorates' and charity's strategic goals
- Delivering high‑quality administrative support across organisational change processes, collaborating closely with the People Services team to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of all activities
- Preparing and drafting clear, professional correspondence for employees and managers (including consultation letters, meeting invites, and outcome notifications)
- Maintaining accurate and well‑organised documentation, ensuring all change-related records are securely stored and compliant with GDPR and data protection requirements
- Collating key documentation such as consultation packs, timelines, selection materials and meeting notes to support the smooth running of change programmes
- Updating and maintaining trackers and logs to provide real-time visibility of change activity (including progress, outcomes, risks and themes)
- Producing data insights and reports to support analysis of organisational change activity, highlighting trends and opportunities to improve processes and employee experience
- Maintaining and enhancing templates and process guides, ensuring HR teams and managers have up‑to‑date, user-friendly resources to support consistent delivery
- Providing administrative support to wider HR projects (such as organisational design, workforce planning and transformation initiatives)
- Attending formal consultation meetings, capturing accurate, high‑quality notes to ensure a clear and reliable record of discussions and decisions
- Collaborating closely with colleagues across the HR department (including Employee Relations and People Services)
- Keeping informed on relevant employment law and external trends, helping the HR team maintain compliance and adopt best practice in change management

Our take
The world’s largest independent cancer research charity, Cancer Research UK (CRUK) was founded from a merger between the Cancer Research Campaign and the Cancer Research Fund in 2002. CRC and ICRF had been long-standing pinnacles of the British medical institution, their work dating back to 1902 and 1923 respectively, and the merger signalled a strong step forward for UK medical institutes’ global influence.
A multi-armed charity, CRUK uses both grant-funded researchers and its own employed staff to research the treatments and causes of cancer, whilst its striking advertising and marketing campaigns are responsible for influencing public policy on the causes, prevention, and treatment of the disease. An example of a significant public campaign was Stoptober, which appeared to have triggered a third of a million smokers at the time to try quit tobacco throughout the month of October.
Alongside its pharmaceutical efforts, in 2023 CRUK funded clinical trials for the first-ever proton beam therapy for breast cancer, indicating a focus on technological innovations in the fight against cancer. On this subject, CRUK has also taken part in a billion-pound investment in the Francis Crick Institute, a biomedical research institute that is aiming to make England an international leader in the industry.
