Role
Who you are
- Extensive Experience in a Data Architect or senior Data Engineering role, with proven expertise in SQL and Python
- Data Streaming and Ingestion: Hands-on experience with ETL and ELT solutions like Segment, Snowplow, Kafka, Airflow, and DBT
- Cloud and SaaS Solutions: In-depth knowledge of end-to-end cloud and SaaS solutions in the data domain
- Database and Storage Solutions: Expertise in databases and storage solutions such as Hadoop, EMR, DeltaLake, Snowflake, and BigQuery
- BI and Reporting: Strong knowledge of Business Intelligence and reporting solutions
- Security and Compliance: Hands-on experience with GDPR, information security concepts, and data lifecycle management, including data anonymization and deletion processes
- Analytical and Decision-Making Skills: Ability to evaluate trade-offs between building versus buying solutions
- Collaborative Mindset: Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Architectural Mindset: First-class architectural mindset for both data and software architecture, capable of guiding organizational strategy

- Dimensional Modeling: Familiarity with DWH dimensional modeling concepts
- Innovative Problem Solving: Experience initiating and leading POC projects for new data tools or concepts
What the job involves
- The Data Architect will play a pivotal strategic role in shaping our data flow, governance, and tooling, ensuring Taxfix is well-prepared to tackle future data challenges
- Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to shape and evolve Taxfix's data architecture in alignment with our data strategy
- Collaboration and Influence: Work closely with data experts and stakeholders to maintain a comprehensive understanding of Taxfix’s data tooling, infrastructure, processing, and consumption
- Problem Solving: Identify and address bottlenecks, challenges, and opportunities within the data architecture
- Innovation and Evaluation: Initiate and support proofs of concept (POC) for new tools or concepts, establishing success criteria, approaches, and evaluation metrics
- Governance and Standards: Develop and align guidelines and rules for data flow, usage, management, and governance
- Scalability and Efficiency: Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of our data systems and prepare the architecture to scale with increasing data volume and variety
- Cutting-Edge Knowledge: Stay abreast of the latest technologies for data democratization and concepts such as Data Catalogue, Metric Layer, and Data Mesh

For many people, filing taxes is still a painstaking, confusing and outdated process. In Germany alone, around 10 million people each year decide not to claim their tax refund for this reason. Taxfix solves this problem by making it easier to file tax returns and claim rebates.
Taxfix serves as a personal tax accountant, something that many of its users don't have access to. The app functions much like any chatbot, offering in-depth guidance and optimising the tax filing process. Users can typically file their taxes in under 20 minutes using the app, which will appeal to anyone looking to save time and effort on their personal finances.
Taxfix is not alone in offering this service, but it sets itself apart from rivals thanks to its mobile-first approach. The company has been well-served by its innovative and attractive app interface and acquired its German competitor Steuerbot in 2023. A year later it entered the UK market by acquiring smaller competitor Taxscouts, establishing itself as the European leader in its sector.
