Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for an experienced and motivated leader to join our Account Management team
- You are comfortable streamlining complex team operations, encouraging effective collaboration, and engaging with executives to drive mutual beneficial outcomes
- An energetic self-starter with a proven commercial edge in a high growth technology environment, entrepreneurial track record and strong negotiation skills
- Experience scaling a client facing or revenue generating function within a fast paced, collaborative environment
- Demonstrate understanding of the unique commercial and operational drivers of enterprise businesses
- An excellent written and oral communicator and team player with strong management skills and business aptitude
- 10+ years experience in building and managing large multi-level teams
- 8+ years experience in account management, business development, consulting, or a related field
- Experience in managing a portfolio of Fortune 500 accounts
- Payments experience required
What the job involves
- You will build, mentor, and coach a team of team leads and account managers (over 40 total) who are responsible for accelerating the growth of our strategic merchant relationships and payments revenue
- As a critical role in the continued success of our US operations, you will help to iterate our culture and build an amazing team environment that will create future leaders for Adyen
- Lead a business focused team of managers and their direct reports. Develop and motivate, and coach in areas including but not limited to: people management, expectation setting, strategic portfolio growth, and conflict management
- Serve as an executive stakeholder, providing strategic and consultative advice to influence and fulfill the global payments strategy of merchants
- Set clear individual and team goals focused on commercial growth and business impact. Report on performance and metrics at an executive level
- Identify and work with cross functional teams to improve internal processes and product offerings the enable scaled growth and enhance our merchant experience
- Create strategic plans to execute company commercial goals
- Create an inspiring and collaborative team environment with an open communication/feedback culture
- Recruit and develop new team members in line with the Adyen culture and required skills

Our take
Adyen has been one of the most successful businesses in Europe over the last decade. When it went public in 2018 at a valuation of €7bn, it raised over €1bn and its share price popped on the first day, resulting in a valuation of €14bn. Its valuation has continued to climb by the billions.
Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.
Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
