What the job involves
- We're seeking a Senior Product Manager on the Data team to lead our efforts in developing AI/ Machine Learning products
- From powering customer-facing features to optimizing internal workflows, data, AI and machine learning are becoming foundational across Zapier—this role offers a unique opportunity to shape where and how we invest, building both user-facing products and internal tools that unlock customer value
- As the Senior PM for Data, you’ll guide the work of Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers and AI Engineers through the next critical stages of AI development at Zapier
- You’ll partner with engineering, product and insights teams to define and execute the strategy that helps Zapier leverage AI and Machine Learning in the best possible way
- Identify opportunities and drive a roadmap for the development of AI and Machine Learning efforts across all of Zapier’s Build zones & teams
- Engage deeply with our internal customers in Build, Engineering or Go To Market organizations, using real-world usage, feedback, pain points and strategic vision to prioritize the highest leverage things that will help Zapier succeed
- Work across teams to ensure AI/ML products integrate effectively into Zapier’s most important initiatives and are at the core of their success
- Evolve the AI/ML product portfolio to support enterprise needs such as security, scalability, and data privacy
- Bring clarity and focus to ambiguity, saying no when needed and staying aligned with business and customer needs
- This high-visibility role requires a strong sense of product ownership, technical fluency in AI/ML-related products, and a desire to build new products from the ground up with empathy and precision
- Keep a running list of opportunities for AI/ML investment across Zapier, and advocate for its prioritization regularly based on evolving needs at Zapier
- Work in a cross-functional team to decide what to build next and deliver it
- Talk with existing and potential users, as well as stakeholders to understand pain points and opportunities
- Work closely with engineers to scope and deliver features that have the highest leverage for our customers
- Define and track success metrics and use data and customer insights to guide prioritization and product strategy
- Support the transition from early beta to scalable adoption and enterprise readiness

Even before remote working became the "in thing", freelancers, small business owners, and large organisations have found themselves needing more and more software platforms to serve their operations needs. As people used more software services, Zapier founders saw the need to connect the actions between these softwares and save everyone some time.
Zapier is the largest integration and automation tool for businesses. Since being founded, Zapier has grown its suite of automation offerings across almost every mainstream software service. The company is one of the most successful to come out of Y Combinator, and has also been one of the pioneers of remote working.
Zapier has so far, been able to capitalise heavily on its advantage as first entrants and has had very little actual competition. Software services aren't going anywhere anytime soon and organisations are only going to need more of them. This puts Zapier in a strong place growth-wise but also opens up room for bolder companies to get in on the action. Companies like Airtable and Integromat are already preying on more niche segments of Zapier's market share.
