Who you are

2–4 years of experience in a research, strategy, consulting, or analyst role (experience in innovation, R&D, or IP strategy is a plus)
A strong analytical mindset and comfort working with both qualitative and quantitative data
Excellent writing and communication skills—you can distill complex findings into client-ready reports
Familiarity with academic literature, patents, or technical datasets
Proficiency with tools like Excel, Google Sheets, and research databases; bonus if you have experience with SQL, Python, or data visualization tools
A collaborative and proactive attitude with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced startup environment

What the job involves

Cypris is looking for a detail-oriented and curious Research Analyst to join our growing Research Services team
In this role, you’ll work directly with innovation and R&D leaders to deliver strategic insights derived from global datasets including patents, scientific literature, company activity, and market trends
You’ll play a consultative role supporting our customers through custom research projects while playing a key role in helping them understand emerging technologies, evaluate competitors, and making data-backed decisions around new product development and innovation strategy
Conduct research and analysis across technical and commercial datasets (scientific papers, patents, market activity, product data sheets, company data, etc.)
Author custom reports and formulate insights for enterprise customers in collaboration with our Customer Success and Sales teams
Identify trends in innovation activity, investment, and research within key technology areas
Work cross-functionally to support product development and platform improvements by surfacing user feedback and unmet research needs
Translate complex technical data into clear, digestible insights for business and R&D stakeholders
Contribute to the development of internal research methodologies and knowledge frameworks
