Role
Who you are
- Experience: 5+ years of product compliance experience in fintech or financial services, with a specific focus on lending and stored-value products
- Autonomy: Proven ability to deliver independently in ambiguous situations, moving from high-level strategy to detailed execution
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of U.S. and international regulatory requirements (AML, KYC, KYB) and how they intersect with software systems
- Problem Solving: Expertise in deconstructing complex regulatory issues into practical, scalable engineering requirements
- Communication: Proficiency in conveying technical compliance concepts to non-technical stakeholders and building consensus across leadership
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field; CAMS or CRCM certification is preferred
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Head of Product Compliance, the Product Compliance Manager is a critical role responsible for optimizing the compliance framework for Remitly's core products, including store of value features
- You will provide strategic guidance on new products and establish compliance programs that enable business growth while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory requirements
- You will navigate complex regulatory landscapes and serve as a cross-functional leader at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Legal
- Design & Integrate: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design and integrate automated compliance controls into product development and operations
- Manage Partnerships: Build and manage productive relationships with compliance teams at partner banks and external vendors
- Program Development: Develop and maintain comprehensive compliance programs for lending, payments, and wallet products
- Regulatory Oversight: Monitor compliance with federal, state, and international regulations, including AML, KYC, and consumer protection laws
- Risk Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate compliance risks for nascent and existing products
- Stakeholder Training: Stay current on regulatory changes and provide timely updates and training to relevant business stakeholders
- Liaison: Act as a primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and lead support for regulatory examinations and audits

The emergence of digital banks with low transaction fees cross-country has increased competition in a space where Remitly was dominant for many years. The company must continue to innovate its product to ensure it is the go-to place for these types of payments.
That said, Remitly continues to partner with exciting companies and improve their service for loyal customers. The company is setting its sights beyond its core remittance service, such as through the introduction of Passbook, an app that allows customers to access digital banking through a partner bank.
