Who you are

3+ years in cloud engineering, with a strong focus on operations and coding
Practical understanding of computer science and software engineering fundamentals
Proven track record in the practical application of containers in both development and production environments

What the job involves

As an infrastructure engineer at Crunchbase you will build tooling to enable feature teams to own their solution from commit through to deployment, providing automation, observability and reliability at each step on the path
You’ll take a direct role in resolving our most critical and time-sensitive challenges, and you’ll apply your creativity to improve the reliability of our platform
Architect, automate and support the backbone of Crunchbase on industry standard platforms and tools such AWS, Kubernetes and Terraform
Build and maintain our custom gateway and network routing infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security
Enhance our build, test, and deployment pipelines to streamline processes and improve efficiency
Develop tools to boost developer experience and productivity, enabling our teams to deliver high-quality features faster
Serve as a central point for communication, triaging, and resolving site issues, including participation in an on-call rotation
Apply industry-standard methodologies and your expertise to bolster our cloud, system, application security, and observability practices
Support, optimize, and help design our data infrastructure, including storage systems, data pipelines, and machine learning architecture

Crunchbase is a platform that's designed for finding business information about public and private companies. This includes funding information, recent investments, leaders or founders, industry trends, and M&A news.

In addition to earning money via advertising, Crunchbase sells a range of products on a monthly basis, such as Crunchbase Pro and Crunchbase Enterprise, which allow users to run advanced searches of their database. Though it has competitors such as Owler, DealRoom and PitchBook, Crunchbase differentiates itself by covering a wider breadth of companies and having additional info on tech stacks and web traffic.

Crunchbase data is crowd-sourced, which means that people and companies enter data on themselves and others. This means that company info that is not widely available can be missed or added late, but despite these shortcomings, Crunchbase remains a premier spot for company information. Its 2022 round of funding is being used to grow its team as well as continue planned improvements, including the addition of enhanced machine learning-powered suggestions to the site.
