Senior Accountant, Brex

• College graduate with a 4-year degree in Accounting or related field
• 3 years of public accounting and/or private industry experience
• Ability to examine and verify financial documents, reports, and transactions; research and analyze accounting transactions; verify the accuracy of data; reconcile financial data and accounts
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and address difficult situations in a professional manner

• The Accounting team at Brex ensures that we have perfect financial reporting, but even more so, we serve as beta testers and power users of Brex’s financial products, providing analysis and feedback prior to product releases
• Not only are we responsible for maintaining accurate books and records, we are also deeply passionate about automation and partner closely with the Engineering team to implement technological improvements
• The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial records and in developing scalable and sustainable processes as the business grows
• As the Senior Accountant you will be exposed to a variety of areas, including but not limited to our charge card, payment and SaaS products, account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis and more
• You will work cross functionally within a detail-oriented environment where creative problem solving is highly valued
• The Senior Accountant is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness
• This role will be based in our New York City office
• You must be willing to work in office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday, starting the week of January 6th, 2025
• Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year, for a minimum of one week at a time
• Ownership of the accounting process for our Spend Management SaaS product, including setting up reconciliations, performing contract reviews and working with cross-functional teams to drive system improvements
• Ownership of the accounting process for costs of revenue as it relates to the Brex Card product. This includes setting up reconciliations and assessing the appropriateness of estimates used
• Ensure timely month-end close through the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations and variance analytics
• From time to time, supporting areas such as fixed assets, internal use software, cost allocation and others
• Identify and deliver process improvements via cross functional collaboration
• Create sustainable, repeatable and scalable processes, including the review and update of process documentation
