Who you are
- Bachelor's degree. Graduate degree a plus (MBA or JD)
- 12+ years of relevant experience
- Prior experience within digital media, Internet, technology or gaming
- Outstanding relationship skills, including the ability to work with international teams
- Knowledge of digital entertainment, including distribution models, platforms, content and services
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, including data analysis and financial modeling
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author and deliver detailed presentations
- Strong digital literacy
What the job involves
- The Sr Manager, Strategic Business Development, will be a member of the Global Entertainment Services (GES) team at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and help lead and drive global media partnerships and critical initiatives across the PlayStation platform
- You will run existing relationships with large media services such as Netflix, Disney, and Amazon Prime Video and be responsible for driving deals and initiatives globally, as well as collaborating with the Regional teams
- The manager will identify and execute global opportunities to drive revenue growth and engagement on PlayStation for media apps, including forging new partnerships and business models and coming up with compelling special offers and unique promotions for media services on PlayStation
- The Sr Manager will oversee new third-party partnership deal opportunities from initiation, negotiation, closing and continued account management
- Internally championing projects, developing financial models and strategic frameworks for deal analysis, and ensuring successful launches
- Identify and implement new partnerships with media companies to drive incremental revenue as well as improve overall consumer value proposition and user experience on PlayStation
- Manage relationships with partners pre and post-closing of deals
- Work optimally with other SIE internal groups and partners, including marketing, finance, legal, advertising, product and engineering
- Craft business terms and take leadership role in deal negotiations
- Develop robust financial models for deal analysis to determine structure, support proposals, and influence negotiations for existing and new media services
- Identify and research emerging market trends and develop strategic frameworks
- Present business proposals and updates to partners up to the Executive level
- Develop and report on KPI’s relative to team and overall GES goals

Since the release of the PS1 in 1994, PlayStation has been a consistent leader in the video gaming market. Its consoles are iconic in the gaming community - Playstation has produced both the top-selling and fastest-selling console of all time - and the company is still pushing boundaries. Its current flagship - the PS5 - promises to revolutionize gaming, featuring new technology that will create improvements across the board.
As well as its consoles, PlayStation has also developed online services, connecting its users and giving them access to diversified media. A PlayStation can be used for a huge range of activities - from Netflix to guided workouts - which has led to the expansion of the company's audience over time and across generations.
PlayStation faces competition in its field from the likes of Microsoft, with its Xbox range, and PC gaming, which has been becoming more popular in recent years. Regardless, PlayStation shows no signs of slowing down. The upcoming implementation of in-game ads in free games looks to significantly increase revenue, and the wider PlayStation gaming experience also appears to be evolving from plans to launch live service games in upcoming years.
