Role
Who you are
- A proven, effective people manager with at least 8 years of experience in a people management role, including 5+ years managing and developing a team of data engineers
- Hands on, rolling up their sleeves when needed and staying connected to the codebase
- Deep healthcare experience, with at least 5 years of experience in the healthcare domain working with data such as PBM data, HEDIS engine exports, Medical Claims / Encounters, Eligibility, and Labs
- Accomplished with delivering production data systems, with 5+ years of professional experience building, operating, and improving them
- Proficient in operational excellence, with 5+ years of experience troubleshooting, remediating, and learning from operational issues with production systems
- Proficient in analytics and reporting, with 5+ years of experience translating complex data into actionable business insights
- Accomplished in data strategy, governance, and operations, with 5+ years of experience delivering solutions in these areas
- An accomplished partner with business leaders, technology leaders, and senior executives with an ability to communicate concisely and clearly to audiences of varying technical levels
- Familiar with our tools, including experience with SQL, Python, dbt, Redshift, Fivetran, Airflow, Postgres, AWS, and more
- Proficient in data privacy and security, with experience working with People, Product, Customer Success, Sales, Legal, Compliance, and Privacy teams to ensure that we enforce best practices and compliance standards for data privacy and security

- Data is the beating heart of Wellth’s products, powering our outreach, mobile app experiences, internal analytics, and customer-facing reporting that drives our customer expansions. Your active ownership of the data vision and team will lead the company to continued growth in our mission to help members live healthier and happier lives
- You have the opportunity to build systems that drive healthy habit experiences and demonstrate our outcomes
- Specifically, you will:
- Leverage your data and healthcare experience to create and communicate the vision and roadmap of Wellth’s data ingestion, warehousing, transformation, analytics, and reporting systems
- Contribute to the design and implementation of Wellth’s data product capabilities (e.g., outcomes reporting, personalization, etc.)
- Bring to life our next generation of attributed outcomes reporting that drives customer expansion – these improved member health outcomes are what we sell!
- Manage and grow a high-caliber team of data and analytics engineers
- Deliver the vision by defining and driving the execution of data projects that deliver better health outcomes for members and clients
- Collaborate with product team members, technical leaders, and senior executives to understand and serve internal and external stakeholders
- Continuously maintain and improve the data quality bar throughout the data life cycle. You have experience working with data quality challenges that emerge from partner and third-party data
- Protect the privacy of Wellth’s data, its customers, and their patients by following secure SDLC guidelines to maintain our HITRUST certification
- You will be a member of a diverse and supportive team
- You will manage:
- High-caliber data and analytics engineers who work on scalable, automated systems that make data available for downstream systems
- You will collaborate with:
- Product team to ideate and groom potential new system capabilities and work through ways to leverage our data to solve key business challenges
- Client Success and Sales, to ensure we’re ingesting and modeling the data from our clients in order to deliver and prove the outcomes our clients need from us the most
- Senior leaders and executives to discuss high-level business goals and how data systems can support their deliveries
- Technical leadership, such as senior and staff engineers and architects to solicit technical opinions and guidance
- Our Senior Director of Engineering to closely integrate our member-facing products with our high-quality data systems and analysis
- You’ll report to: Our SVP of Engineering for strategic guidance, agile decision-making, and to support your career development and technical and leadership growth
Our take
When a patient is in hospital, they’re treated by doctors and nurses - people who can operate on you, take tests, check you’re ok and give you your medication until you're better. But what’s much harder to treat is a patient at home, living their life, who has to take regular medication - but doesn’t. Wellth is on a mission to change that.
It draws on the science of behavioural economics to boast over 90% care plan adherence in patients who use its services, and its platform is very simple - financial incentives for looking after yourself. Users post a picture of their medication, their blood sugar readings, or whatever it is they should be doing every day, and Wellth’s AI algorithm checks for inconsistencies (and notifies the relevant parties if anything seems wrong). The patient receives reward points to spend at participating establishments.
Its model is a unique one and has been proven to get results, bagging it major healthcare providers as partners such as Axa and Wellcare. Looking forward, the company is further investing in the use of AI to expand its platform.
