What the job involves
- The mission of a Member of Global Risk Management, Financial Risk, is to leverage deep expertise in risk management and financial analysis to manage and mitigate risks for a rapidly growing crypto business
- In this role, you will be managing current and potential exposures, ensuring that they are within the company's risk appetite
- As you have skills in financial, credit, and market analysis, you are expected to collaborate with trading, sales, operations, legal, and engineering teams to assess the creditworthiness of the company’s counterparties, examine volatility and stability of digital assets, monitor risks associated with trading activities, and offering analysis and insight to support business growth
- You will also apply your skills and judgment to solve unique challenges in the crypto industry, contributing directly to the company’s success
- You will manage and influence the risk management strategies for dynamic and high-growth areas at Anchorage Digital, with significant visibility across the organization
- Assess the creditworthiness of clients to determine acceptable levels of credit exposure
- Analyze the risks inherent in crypto products, such as derivatives, financing, or stablecoins
- Monitor, manage and report exposures at a counterpart, product and portfolio level
- Skilled in engaging with stakeholders to navigate complex problems unique to crypto
- Capable of providing judgement with limited, imperfect information
- Actively engages with business, legal, product, compliance, and quants to align efforts with Anchorage’s strategic vision, ensuring timely delivery of analysis and initiatives
- Develops and implements programs, projects and processes aligned with Anchorage’s strategic direction and needs
- Proactively shares insights and rationale across teams to ensure broad understanding and adoption
- Contributes to strategic proposals, business plans, and execution roadmaps
- Crosses direct team and function boundaries to gain consensus, identify and solution issues, and present to stakeholders across Anchorage

Anchorage is a crypto-native digital asset platform offering a raft of solutions that help companies leverage blockchain technologies. Its advanced security architecture facilitates streamlined access to the complex and fragmented digital asset space.
Financial backing for Anchorage has come from prestigious investors Visa and Andreessen Horowitz. Anchorage's broad offerings are set to be matched by plans to partner across a wide spread of neobanks, challenger & incumbent banks, and corporate treasurers. This would mean an impressive expansion of their already substantial domain of influence in a rapidly developing sector.
In early 2021, Anchorage secured a national trust charter from the OCC, making it the first-ever federally chartered digital asset bank. This is significant, as it provides a good barrier to entry for other companies looking to compete in this space, and gives legacy institutions the ability to offer digital asset access to their clients. Though it has raised considerable funding in the past, crypto instability and wider macroeconomic challenges forced Anchorage to cut 20% of its staff in March 2023. 2022 clampdowns on customer due dilligence internal controllers added to the pressure on Anchorage to streamline and refocus its efforts.
