- You have experience with Core Java, web services, REST APIs and SQL/PostgreSQL

What the job involves
- As Java Software Engineer you will build and improve integrations at a global scale for in-store and online payments. We make sure that our merchants and partners have a seamless integration with the Adyen platform
- The Operational Scalability team’s purpose is to help Adyen scale 10x without having to overload our teams with operational work and have them scale 10x in terms of team members
- The team aims to resolve the above challenge by enabling both internal (Adyen) and external (customers) users to be in control of their tasks and questions in a frictionless and efficient manner
- Currently this is done with the help of three permanent squads: configuration management, payment method management and user guidance. Those squads focus on automation, simplification and self-service initiatives that allow internal and external users of the platform to have a frictionless and efficient experience that helps them become self-sufficient
- We work closely together with our great colleagues in Operations to continuously assess the areas with the biggest impact, in order to make sure we can grow our customers without increasing operations. But other important stakeholders are the platform teams and payments engine teams

Adyen has been one of the most successful businesses in Europe over the last decade. When it went public in 2018 at a valuation of €7bn, it raised over €1bn and its share price popped on the first day, resulting in a valuation of €14bn. Its valuation has continued to climb by the billions.
Adyen competes with large players like PayPal, as well as outsized startups like Stripe, to power payments and provide other infrastructure to conduct digital transactions. Disrupters in the field have been buoyed by a strong rise in eCommerce activity, where some or all of a transaction by a customer is made either online or by mobile.
Adyen has been one of the companies riding the wave by helping to reduce the friction between a company choosing to take payments online, and actually being able to do it. That can take multiple steps and agreements across numerous countries — Adyen’s pitch is that it essentially handles all of it in the backend as a service for its users. Notable partners have included Autocanteen, a touchless self-checkout solution for the hospitality industry, and BILL, a small business-focused fintech platform.
