Role
Who you are
- We need our engineers to be versatile and driven, display leadership and ownership qualities, and be enthusiastic to take on new challenges as we continue to push technology forward
- BS or advanced degree in computer science or applicable experience
- 3-5 years of software development experience working on mobile and web applications. Including ReactNative and React. Experience launching and maintaining a mobile application is highly desired
- A builder mindset, capable of building infrastructure and development pipelines from scratch. Ability to work and deliver large projects independently
- Experience at a high-growth startup is a plus
- Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL tuning, and database monitoring is required
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable APIs; a solid understanding of design patterns, database design, and testing best practices
- Working knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI and CD pipeline, AWS platform, Docker, and Kubernetes a plus
- Positivity; non-dogmatic, team-first attitude
- Flexibility; someone who is responsive and comfortable with ambiguity
- Highly disciplined approach to software design and development and ability to work on features independently (accurately forecast delivery milestones and work with stakeholders to ensure that expectations are met)
What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer, Mobile Apps you will play a key role in the entire engineering lifecycle from design, documentation, build, test and maintain our SmithRx product suite - including building a first of its kind mobile application for both Android and iOS
- You will help to build a mobile development and deployment pipeline and will advocate and bring best practices/methodologies, coding standards and large-scale system design perspectives to our team
- Additionally, you will assist with the creation and delivery of a new mobile application to members of SmithRx
- Leverage modern technologies and tools to build a mobile app development pipeline and release process
- Build mobile a mobile application and development pipeline that will scale to meet our users needs, supporting both iOS and Android
- Focus on back-end or front-end web architecture using JavaScript React, Node, GraphQL, React Native, and SQL (amongst others)
- Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to understand functional and technical requirements to produce high-quality, scalable software and services
- Provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds by building technical design documentation
- Continually apply software development best practices, design patterns, testing, automation, tools and technologies
- Troubleshoot production issues by performing triages for issues that arise, assessing the impact, creating and executing a plan for short-term and long-term mitigation, and performing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues
- Coach/mentor junior team members in their assigned engineering projects by reviewing and providing feedback on code developed, and performing design and code reviews
- Work with senior leadership to turn technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter
- Be the cornerstone of a collaborative learning culture through mentorship, code reviews, the exploration of new technologies, and other innovations

PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) save payers and patients 40% to 50% on prescription drug and related medical costs in the US, compared to what they would spend without them. It’s generally accepted, though, that PBMs are working for profit and not solely on the customers benefit.
SmithRx is a company looking to reduce complications in the current system with its innovative PBM structure. It uses its cloud-based technology to present the most cost effective options transparently to self-insured businesses, supporting them in getting the lowest cost drugs they can, as well as making the transition to these alternatives seamless.
It does this by partnering with innovative drug companies, as well as applying coupons and making use of available savings and assistance programs. As the company does not take economics from the supply chain, it is able to work for its customers with no hidden agendas. And with significant growth, cost savings, customer satisfaction, and market traction in 2024, the company is very much on track for continued success.
