Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of deep hands-on experience with JavaScript (TypeScript) and GraphQL
- Strong software engineering skills on complex, data-intensive applications with professional, real-world experience with applications at scale
- Proficiency in Python preferred
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience in deploying AI and search services (e.g. vector search) to single-tenant cloud environments
- Experience in leading teams and/or projects in a full-stack environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
- Experience designing large-scale software systems and writing high-quality code and tests. Which includes handling error cases, asynchronous code, streaming data, caching, logging and analytics for understanding behavior in production
- Knowledge of modern development practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
- Experience in optimizing the performance and cost of cloud services
What the job involves
- AlphaSense is seeking a passionate software engineer to join our AI & Search Platform team
- This team is responsible for developing the next-generation Generative AI platform powering AlphaSense’s AI & Search product features
- As part of this team, you will collaborate with talented engineers to deliver scalable solutions for our world-class AI-powered search platform
- Architect, design, and implement highly scalable backend services for AlphaSense AI and Search products
- Improve the reliability, latency, and cost-efficiency of AI and search services in cloud environments
- Deploy AI and Search services to single-tenant cloud environments
- Translate product requirements into software architectures in collaboration with Product Management
- Solve challenges that come along with working with large language models (high latency, variance, etc.), leading to a defensive, fault-first mindset
- Provide technical leadership and implement best practices for software development

Manual research can be a serious pain : financial analysts spend hours every week searching through PDFs one keyword at a time, just to find a single usable insight. To remedy this, AlphaSense has built a smart search engine that slashes research time for analysts, using thousands of sources and a semantic indexing layer that can effectively query finance-specific language.
As a disruptor and market leader in this field AlphaSense has few direct competitors, being most closely compared to Wolfram Alpha or LexisNexis. It helps that its tools are undoubtedly effective and valued by knowledge professionals: the company counts about 85% of the S&P 100 as customers and is trusted by J.P.Morgan, Microsoft, Credit Suisse and Google, among other major enterprises.
Having raised a large amount of funding over 2022 and 2023, AlphaSense has moved quickly to double down on its expansion in European markets, opening an office in Berlin to support this. With 2024 seeing investment from Singaporean EDBI, it is now setting its sights on the Asia-Pacific region. As business intelligence will remain key for enterprises as they compete for market share, AlphaSense is well-placed for additional future growth.
