Role
Who you are
- This is the ideal role for someone passionate about building and scaling high-performing engineering teams while staying close to the technical details. You thrive in a pod-based structure where collaboration, ownership, and accountability are shared. Our ideal candidate is:
- Technically strong: able to engage in architectural discussions and guide engineers through complex challenges
- A proven leader: experienced in managing engineering teams, driving execution, and building trusted relationships
- Focused on people and systems: equally committed to supporting engineer growth and building robust, scalable infrastructure
- Collaborative: effective at partnering across teams and ensuring alignment to company goals
- This role is a chance to make a direct impact on Healthie’s core technology, lead exceptional engineers, and ensure our systems remain resilient and scalable as we continue to grow
- Experienced: 8+ years as a software engineer and 2+ years leading teams, ideally in SaaS; healthcare tech experience a plus
- Technical: Strong hands-on experience with our stack — Rails, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq, RSpec, and Capybara — plus a broad foundation in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
- Mobile-Aware: Experience building or collaborating on mobile applications (iOS, Android, or React Native) and designing APIs and systems that support high-quality mobile experiences. Comfortable considering mobile performance, usability, and platform constraints when building full-stack features
- Leader: Proven ability to coach engineers, set priorities, and drive execution while fostering growth, collaboration, and accountability
- Communicator: Clear and effective in writing and async communication, able to simplify complex topics for technical and non-technical audiences
- Independent: Organized, self-directed, and proactive in problem-solving—able to identify solutions and remove blockers quickly
- Builder: Committed to scaling both teams and systems; passionate about making a lasting impact on Healthie’s core technology
- Alignment: Strong alignment with Healthie’s core values and culture: Respect, Resilience, Reliability and no ego

Our take
The past few years have seen a substantial rise in provision and uptake of telemedicine services, with over one in five Americans now signed up. This successful reimagining of healthcare provision into something more accessible, affordable, and effective, has led to a surge of VC investment and rapid-growth success stories in the sector.
Would-be startups, however, have to navigate the costly and complex process of building out HIPAA-compliant infrastructure - so software and API company Healthie is filling the gap in this market. It helps these companies build and deliver health and wellness services by providing a fully-brandable suite of telehealth, business management, and coaching tools.
This means that businesses can launch and scale at a fraction of the cost, and in a fraction of the time. This approach has won Healthie an impressive number of clients across over 20 countries. And its vigorous growth looks likely to continue, with regular funding rounds behind it and the continued growth of the telemedicine industry.
