Who you are
- We are seeking smart, passionate, ambitious, and hardworking team players to help us bring Sakara to the next level
- Minimum 7 years HR/People Ops/HRBP experience, preferably in fast paced, growing businesses
- Working knowledge of multiple HR areas, including talent and performance management, recruiting, compensation, benefits, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, culture and engagement, and US employment laws
- Track record of building trusted and collaborative relationships between the People Team and stakeholders across all levels of an organization
- Experience working with both salaried and hourly employee populations
- Experience quickly diagnosing challenges, strategizing solutions, and implementing change
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with an ability to package and communicate People operational items in a simple, clear, scalable and engaging way
- Ability to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective and translate concepts into actionable items
- Ability to think strategically and proven ability to influence decision making
- Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise
- Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations
- Strong sense of urgency and demonstrated ability to "get it done"
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Head of People, Senior Director to lead and oversee all aspects of our People function, reporting directly to the Chief Legal and Administrative Officer
- As the Sakara Head of People, you will focus on building a culture of excellence, attracting and retaining top talent, and developing comprehensive People programs and processes that align with our strategic priorities and drive high performance and engagement
- You have strong consultative skills, coupled with a passion for thinking strategically and managing the details
- You thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing entrepreneurial environment and are willing to contribute wherever necessary
- You believe in a people-first approach to HR with a focus on creating an environment where everyone can do their best work
- Manage, develop and lead the Sakara People Team
- Develop and implement People Team strategies and initiatives aligned with Sakara’s strategic priorities
- Provide strategic guidance and support to the Executive Team on all HR matters
- Contribute meaningfully to Sakara’s culture and community
- Design, implement and manage a competitive total rewards program
- Ensure compensation practices are aligned with market standards and internal equity
- Oversee People Team in developing and implementing people strategy and programs focused on all aspects of the employee lifecycle
- Oversee Performance Management
- Create and manage learning and development programs to support employee growth and career progression, with a focus on management training
- Oversee People Team in providing counseling and training for employees and managers on policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment laws
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations when needed
- Oversee Office Administrator to ensure that work spaces are efficient, organized and engaging
- Ensure that our employment brand is fresh and differentiated to continuously attract top talent
- Partner with Executive Team members on organizational design
- Oversee recruitment and onboarding processes and strategies to support those designs
- Oversee HR administration
- Utilize People Team data and metrics to drive informed decision-making and improve People Team processes
- Monitor HR / People Team trends and provide insights to support strategic planning
