- 15+ years of Engineering experience, preferably in B2B SaaS, fintech, early to mid-stage startup environments. You understand modern engineering tools and practices, and how they work together to deliver a great experience
- Product Acumen: You’re a product-minded engineer who advocates for his/her/their team and works with our co-founders on resource allocation for core products
What the job involves
- This role is part scientist, part artist: tech architect, people leader, business strategist, and early adopter to new ways of working
- You will empower a talented, Toronto-based team of ~30 that builds delightful customer-facing products, enabling Canadian SMBs to thrive locally while competing globally
- You will have an insatiable drive to push the limits of possible, can assist with architecture (but limited coding), and are up to the challenge of managing the transition of our existing tech stack while driving efficiency gains via the adoption of AI
- Reporting to the CEO, you will be focused on aligning technology strategy with company strategy
- You will unify product delivery/execution, infrastructure, and architecture
- Ownership of team execution, delivery of product roadmap, and people management
- Coordinating sprints, delivery goals, staffing, and incident resolution
- Aligning with Product and CTO on customer priorities
Our take
Traditional finance and internal expense processes are inefficient for companies. Spending on personal credit cards and filing receipts for reimbursement is a convoluted and complicated business practise. There needs to be a digital alternative to the historically laborious process of managing employee expenses.
Float is a fintech solution, built to simplify the inefficient internal expense processes. Rather than following the traditional method of spending on personal/corporate cards, filing expenses, and waiting for reimbursement - Float works by utilising technology that enables managers to allocate funds and approve expenses before purchases are made. The company also supports companies operating with remote workforces.
As the business world moves to become more international, companies will look to make their business spending as simple as possible. Float aims to develop its technology and cater to the challenge of company spending. It's $50 million C in credit financing will go some way to achieving its aims, all whilst expanding its business significantly.
