Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in US GAAP accounting and financial planning and analysis
- This candidate will have a strategic mindset and experience with taxes, audits, international payments / multi currency conversion, and long term and short term budgetary planning
- You must be an analytical powerhouse who thrives in a small and scrappy environment
- Experience with payment processing as well as multi-currency treasury is a must
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred
- Experience preferably gained in a SAAS or technology-driven environment
- Expert in US GAAP as it relates to Payment Processing and SaaS companies
- Experience managing multiple international entities
- Experience managing audit and tax compliance
- Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and compliance
- Proven experience in managing and developing a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
What the job involves
- WeTravel is seeking a Financial Controller to accelerate growth with improvements in accounting, planning and resource allocation
- This position reports directly to the Vice President of Finance
- This person will have full ownership of the monthly books and work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure all accounting functions are performed accurately and on time
- This person will play a pivotal role in Annual Operational Planning and budget definition/maintenance
- You will work in tandem with the Operations team to implement new processes to ensure accuracy and discipline of financials
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and analysis to assist in decision-making and strategic planning
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide insights to executive leadership
- Provide data and assist in preparation of Board of Directors and other investor reporting
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards, keeping the organization informed of changes in legislation
- Establish and implement robust internal controls to mitigate financial risks
- Lead the annual audit process to ensure accurate and timely completion
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a small team of financial professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance
- Process Optimization:
- Streamline financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
- Identify opportunities for automation and implement solutions to optimize financial workflows

Coined the PayPal for travel, WeTravel is an online payment platform that offers group travel companies with the pre-departure tools to collect payments and plan logistics. With over half a million customers using its platform, and providing payments to thousands of businesses, the company has certainly made its mark as the travel industry continues to bounce back from its pandemic rut.
After a sustained period of strong growth, the company raised substantial funding that will be invested in expanding the business. WeTravel is also looking to uncover further travel fintech solutions for business owners, such as its instant payment feature, which enables businesses to transfer funds to suppliers and employees for immediate cash withdrawal.
